Ariana Grande Continues To Spark Controversy After Alluding To Ethan Slater Relationship In Her New Single
While many fans have taken to social media to share how much they "loved" Grande's new track and visual, many others have used X (formerly Twitter) to bring up her controversial relationship with Slater.
"Ariana Grande really out here praising herself as being a homewrecker in her new song like nooooooo girl," one recently tweeted as another added: "Can we just cancel #ArianaGrande for being a homewrecker."
According to SocialBlade, an analytics site, Grande’s Instagram account has experienced a decline in followers amounting to 369,630 since the beginning of January.
As for TikTok, many users have made videos about Grande's dating history, and alleged string of "homewrecking" incidents apart from this one she is accused of with Slater.
In one recent video, another creator reacted to an article published by The Daily Mail. An insider told the outlet that Slater's now ex wife Lilly Jay used to "hang out" with the actor and Grande on the set of their upcoming live-action film, Wicked, and that Grande "met their baby and even held him."
"They had dinners together in London - and Ariana told Lilly that she wanted to have a baby one day and that she couldn't wait to start a family," the source dished to the publication.
On TikTok, one user wrote, regarding Grande: "she held [Slater and Jay's] baby," as another commented: "the nerve." One other added, in the comments section of the aforementioned video: "She literally has a song called break up with ur gf cause I’m bored."
Grande's "yes, and?" song and video seemingly address the backlash she received upon revealing her romantic involvement with Slater. The "positions" crooner urges her fans to focus on their own lives rather than interfering in hers in the "yes, and?" lyrics. "Say that s–t with your chest, keep moving like, ‘What’s next? Yes, and?'" she sings.
Another notable lyric from the song is: "Your business is yours, and mine is mine / Why do you care so much whose d–k I ride?" Her question was met with an outpouring of criticism on social media, with fans speculating (and several insiders seemingly confirming) that her relationship with Slater had begun before he ended his marriage with his estranged wife, Jay.
According to another insider who spoke to Page Six, Jay, who has a 17-month-old son with Slater, was "completely blindsided" by his relationship with Grande. As she herself told the outlet: "[Grande is] not a girl’s girl." Jay added: "My family is just collateral damage."
Since then, Grande and Slater have maintained a discreet lifestyle, yet occasionally appear in public, such as their trips to Disneyland or romantic nights out in New York City.
