Ariana Portrays An Elderly Version Of Herself In New Short Film
The singer-songwriter released a deluxe version of her successful album Eternal Sunshine on March 28th, 2025, which features six new tracks. The deluxe release was an exciting moment for her fans after there were reports that she'd be taking a break from her music career following all of her success from the Wicked movie.
Alongside the deluxe album, Ariana also starred in and released a short film, Brighter Days Ahead, which is set to the bonus songs. The plot of the short is a sequel to the creative music video she created for her song "We Can't Be Friends (Wait For Your Love)," where her character, 'Peaches,' went to a futuristic facility to remove some of her more distressing memories.
The film is just over 26 minutes long and depicts Ariana as an elderly version of Peaches, as she returns to the facility to restore some of those memories, and includes footage from the singer's childhood. It was created with popular music video director Christian Breslauer and contains several Easter eggs for her fanbase as well as cameos from her family members.
While the entire short film is incredibly impressive, one of the most astonishing aspects was the old age makeup used on the vocalist, which was applied by award-winning makeup artist Justin Raleigh.
Ariana's Fans React To Her 'Emotional' Old Age Makeup
When the Oscar nominee shared photos of her behind-the-scenes of the short film, including a close-up of her in her elderly 'Peaches' makeup, her fanbase freaked out over how real it looked and how emotional it made them feel.
"Why am I emotional?" commented a fan on Instagram, with another adding that the short film was "one of the most emotional music videos" they'd ever seen.
Another follower wrote that the older-looking version of the popstar was the "wise, proud Granny we all want to be adopted by."
"You broke me," added a commenter. "This is so special and beyond."
Support for the emotional short film was resounding from Ariana's fans, with many calling it a "masterpiece" on social media. It's exciting to see the singer and actress combine her two talents and create more meaningful projects that not only her fans, but all music lovers can enjoy.
