While some people may already be putting up their Christmas trees, Baskin Robbins is holding onto the last fall holiday with a new Thanksgiving-themed ice cream flavor. Called “Turkey Day Fixin’s,” the ice cream features flavors of sweet potato and cranberry with honey cornbread pieces mixed in.
While some fans are saying, “this is atrocious” on social media, others have the opposite take, willing skeptics to give it a try. “I tried this flavor and it’s actually good,” one user posted. “Just have to get over the name…”
Baskin Robbins launches new 'Turkey Day Fixin's' ice cream flavor
Last Friday, Baskin Robbins revealed on their Instagram that their newest holiday flavor would be a tribute to Thanksgiving, taking everyone's favorite side dishes and combining them into a delicious scoop. Called "Turkey Day Fixin's," Baskin Robbins' website describes the flavor like this: "sweet potato and autumn spice ice creams mixed with honey cornbread pieces and swirls of cranberry sauce."
Though the idea is somewhat unpalatable at first thought, Baskin Robbins says there's no better combination. "The authentic sweet potato ice cream gives the scoop earthy undertones and hints of nuttiness that are deliciously complimented by the subtle sweetness of the honey cornbread pieces," the website reads. "The autumn spice flavor infuses hints of your favorite Thanksgiving spices with notes of cinnamon, cardamom, clove, sage, and thyme."
"Lastly," they continue, "the cranberry swirls provide a sweet and tart flavor that ties together the scoop." If that description doesn't make you want to try a bite, maybe these fan reviews will!
