Anne Hathaway and Eva Longoria aren’t the only one serving jaw-dropping looks at this year’s Cannes Film Festival. We were patiently waiting for Bella Hadid, who is no stranger to the Cannes red carpet, to make her first appearance this year, and she didn’t disappoint with her high fashion, high wow factor ensemble. She was definitely worth the wait!
The 25-year-old model walked the red carpet for the 75th anniversary screening of The Innocent, and wore a stunning vintage black Versace gown from the Italian fashion house’s archives. Bella’s iconic figure-hugging mermaid gown was designed by Gianni Versace for the Spring 1987 collection, and he reportedly designed it for a performance at the opera Salomé. Wow – what an honor to wear this little piece of history!
Bella was the epitome of old Hollywood glamour, and we can't imagine anyone else being able to rock the dress – which came complete with extravagant, dramatic puff detailing in the middle which turned into a voluminous bow at the back – in quite the same way. Bella accessorized her show-stopping dress with some dazzling Chopard earrings and black velvet heels, and she wore her hair in a sleek, scraped-back updo, to allow the dress to deservedly command all of the attention.
We're obsessed with how Donatella Versace is giving vintage pieces their time in the spotlight all over again! Dua Lipa re-wearing Cindy Crawford's bondage dress at this year's Grammys is still one of our favorites! Bella herself is also very fond of trawling the archives and giving vintage pieces another chance to shine, as she has previously worn vintage designs by Roberto Cavalli and Jean Paul Gaultier (in 2019 and 2020, respectively) to name just two on past Cannes red carpets.
