While so many people were excited about the release of Jennifer Lopez‘s new musical film, This Is Me…Now: A Love Story, which coincided with the highly-anticipated release of her ninth studio album, Ben Affleck didn’t appear to be one of those people.

According to reports, the 51-year-old Gone Girl actor was actually “scared” about the release of the 65-minute movie, which was released on February 16th, as he thought it could have the potential to ruin his career.

Ben Affleck Is 'Scared He's Made a Big Mistake Getting Involved' With J-Lo's New Film

It's no secret that J-Lo's new album and the accompanying musical film is inspired by her relationship with her new husband. The Tender Bar actor also appears in the movie and plays the role of a broadcast news anchorman named Rex Stone, as well as J-Lo's character Alida's unnamed lover. And the pair appearing in the movie together is reportedly what the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice actor was worried about!

"There is a very real risk that this film will not get the reaction she's expecting," an insider reportedly told Heat about Affleck's thoughts on the 54-year-old Hustlers star's latest project. "Ben's been complaining to friends this could end up being Gigli 2.0," they added, in reference to their widely criticized movie Gigli from 2003.

"It will be especially embarrassing for him considering the career that he's built up and how seriously he takes his projects," the insider continued, adding that Affleck is now "scared he's made a big mistake getting involved."

Jennifer Lopez's Film Gets Mixed Reviews

It seems like the two-time Oscar winner was right to have some reservations about the musical film, as it has received very mixed reviews online. Let's start with the positives…

Commenting on an Amazon Studios X post of the trailer, one fan said: "Just finished watching. I felt it all and I truly felt like I was there with you and wanted to give you a hug. I love love and fall too hard and too fast I'm told. Absolutely adored this and already have the album on my @Spotify playlist. "

"LOVED IT! What an AMAZING emotional journey," complimented another fan, as someone else said: "Such a masterpiece! I'm also in love." "A pure work of art by the one and only queen," raved another fan, followed by the fire emoji.

Others weren't so complimentary, thus confirming Affleck's fears. "What on earth was this," criticized one fan on another Amazon Studios post, which confirmed that This Is Me…Now: A Love Story was #1 on Prime Video in the US. "Terrible," slammed another, as another critic simply dropped a crying laughing emoji.

In the comments section of a Daily Mail article about the movie being criticized, one reader said: "This movie should've been titled, 'This is a Disaster, Now' instead." "J-Lo has become a joke," slammed another. "Well, Bennie from the Batcave, you're about to completely mortify three perfectly good kids. Congrats," quipped another.

"She is overwhelmingly needy of attention… so much so she was prepared to fund this nonsense herself for $20 million. Many charities would make valuable use of this kind of cash. Vacuous person," thought another reader.  Another concurred, writing: "If she had donated the 20 million to a worthy cause, she would've gotten a lot more respect." "Gigli 2," wrote another, which could perhaps be the hardest comment for Affleck to read.
