As we age—especially after 50—our bodies undergo significant changes: slower metabolism, reduced collagen production, joint stiffness, and lower energy levels. While a balanced diet and healthy lifestyle remain the foundation of graceful aging, targeted supplements can play a powerful supporting role. From boosting skin elasticity and cognitive clarity to protecting bones and supporting heart health, certain anti-aging supplements have been shown to help maintain vitality, appearance, and overall well-being well into your later decades.

Dr. Robert Love, recently chatted with Ben Greenfield, a biohacker, to discuss three supplements that can help with anti-aging over 50. Read on to learn more.

1. Omega-3 fatty acids

Omega-3 fatty acids are especially beneficial for anti-aging after 50 because they support key areas of health that tend to decline with age. These healthy fats help reduce inflammation, which is linked to aging-related conditions like heart disease, joint pain, and cognitive decline. They also support brain health, memory, and mood—critical as the risk of dementia and depression increases with age.

2. NMN to boost NAD

NMN (nicotinamide mononucleotide) is a popular supplement for boosting NAD⁺ (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide), a vital molecule that helps power energy production, DNA repair, and cell metabolism. As we age, NAD⁺ levels naturally decline, which is linked to fatigue, slower metabolism, and signs of aging.

3. Creatine

Creatine is often associated with athletic performance, but it's also gaining attention as a powerful anti-aging supplement—especially for people over 50. As we age, we naturally lose muscle mass and strength, which can lead to frailty and decreased mobility. Creatine helps support muscle energy and may slow age-related muscle loss (sarcopenia).
