Avocados
Avocados are every millennial's favorite-and it turns out they're they're trendy for a reason!
"Avocados are an excellent fruit to eat daily to help fight wrinkles and for overall health," explains Trista Best, a registered dietician at Balance One. "Vitamin E is naturally produced by the sebum, which is emitted through the pores on the skin. This vitamin is oily and keeps the skin healthy, vibrant and firm."
In particular, avocados are especially good for those prone to dry skin. "Those with dry skin do not produce adequate amounts of vitamin E-leading to wrinkles, dark spots and inflammation," Trista tells us. Therefore, "adding a vitamin E rich ingredient to your daily smoothie can have major implications when it comes to your skin health."
In addition, avocados contain vitamin C, which helps your body detox by supporting your liver and kidneys. These organs work to remove free radicals and toxins from your body, ultimately resulting in less wrinkles and a clearer complexion. It's a win-win!
Like Trista referenced, adding avocados into your daily smoothie is one of the easiest ways to reap their nutritional benefits. "Avocados can be added to a smoothie (either frozen or fresh). Their texture makes your smoothie creamy without a lot of extra flavor," she adds.
If you're not a smoothie fan, don't worry. Add your avo to a salad or a wrap filled with other good-for-you foods, like baby greens, wild salmon, tomatoes, peppers and sprouts.
And until the rest of us find the same fountain of youth that Jennifer Lopez is sipping on, keep eating those avos!
