When we think of celebrity relationships, we typically think of short flings caught by paparazzi, lots of drama, messy divorces, and even the occasional PR stunt. However, we can’t forget the fact that many Hollywood couples are the real deal, and they’re in it for the long haul. In fact, we can think of a few famous duos that just make our hearts melt; being able to watch their love flourish in the limelight makes us believe that maybe romance can last, after all, even when it’s in the public eye.
To reflect on some of the most swoon-worthy Hollywood love stories, we put together this list of 43 of the best celebrity couples that make us believe in true love, from Beyonce and Jay-Z to Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds. Check out the lovebirds below!
1. Beyonce and Jay-Z
As the lyrics of Jay-Z’s “Family Feud” go: What’s better than one billionaire? Two! It doesn’t get more iconic than this duo. When we think “celebrity couples” Bey and Jay are the first thing that comes to mind–and for good reason! These two got together in 2001, a year after they met, and married in 2008. Despite the trials and tribulations (and a whole album focusing on Jay-Z’s infidelity), these lovebirds are still thriving and rocking parenthood with kids Blue Ivy, Sir, and Rumi.
2. Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith
Another couple with a storied history, Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith are no strangers to the struggles of marriage (rumor has it theirs is even an open one!), but that hasn’t stopped them from loving each other unconditionally. “There’s no deal breakers. There’s nothing she could do, ever, nothing that would break our relationship. She has my support till death, and it feels so good to get to that space,” Will said about his wife. These two have been married since 1997 and now share two children together: Jaden and Will Smith.
3. Elton John and David Furnish
These two lovebirds met back in 1993 and married in 2014. As Elton John tells it: “I was attracted to David immediately. He was very well-dressed, very shy. The next night we had dinner.” And the rest, as they say, is history! In 2014, the couple was honored with the Human Rights Campaign Equality Award for their dedication to their AIDs charity, which is aptly named the Elton John AIDS Foundation. We love everything about them!
4. LeBron James and Savannah Brinson
Something about a basketball couple just makes our hearts melt–especially when it comes to LeBron James and Savannah Brinson, who have been together since high school. So cute! The sweethearts married in 2013, and now share three children: Bronny, Zhuri, and Bryce. “I just love him so much,” Brinson said once. “We’re soulmates.” Tears!!
5. Matthew Broderick and Sarah Jessica Parker
It’s only natural that THE Carrie Bradshaw found a lasting love. In fact, Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick met back in 1991, before SJP had even started filming Sex and The City. Broderick says it was love at first sight. “I still remember very clearly seeing her walk down the street toward the movie theater,” he told the YES Network. “It’s very unique, because I wouldn’t remember most people the first time I saw them come down the street. [But] I remember it as clear as day.” Awww! Now the couple shares three children: James, Marion, and Tabitha.
6. Harrison Ford and Calista Flockhart
Imagine meeting the love of your life at an awards show. That’s exactly how it went for Harrison Ford and Calista Flockhart at the 2002 Golden Globes, just after Flockhart adopted her son Liam, whom Harrison has since helped her raise as his own. They married in 2010. Ford told Parade Magazine that his secret to a long, happy marriage is: “Don’t talk. Nod your head.” Jokes aside, the two seem to be living the dream life on their Wyoming ranch, and we love their love (and sense of humor).
7. Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds
Speaking of couples with a sense of humor, it’s hard to find one as equally funny and in love as Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds. We just can’t get enough of these two and their hilarious social media posts! Their on-set romance bloomed in 2010, when they were filming Green Lantern, and they married two years later. They now have a happy family; their children, James, Betty, and Inez (whose names are featured in Taylor Swift’s August, BTW) are as gorgeous as one would expect.
8. Prince William and Kate Middleton
Who doesn’t love a real-life fairytale?! This royal romance warms our hearts. Prince William and Kate Middleton met in school at St. Andrews, and, as Prince William puts it, “it just sort of blossomed from then on.” After marrying in 2010 (who could forget the fanfare for the special wedding?) they had three children: Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. Despite all the drama in the royal family, their love is long-lasting, and we admire that.
9. John Legend and Chrissy Teigen
It hardly gets more adorable than John Legend and Chrissy Teigen. We especially love the story of how they met: it was all because Teigen starred as Legend’s love interest in the “Stereo” music video. Another on-set romance for the win! Now they’ve been married since 2013, and the internet loves watching them flaunt their love. They share two kids, Luna and Miles, and have another one on the way. This is especially exciting as Teigen has publicly struggled with fertility issues. We love their undying support for each other.
10. Ellen DeGeneres and Portia De Rossi
There’s no one like Ellen and Portia to remind us that love is love. They married shortly after same-sex marriage was legalized in California back in 2008, and we’ve watched their marriage flourish ever since. Ellen opened up about her relationship to Parade: “Her happiness is my happiness, and vice versa,” she said. “True love is caring more about the other person’s happiness than your own.” We can all only hope to find that someday!
11. David and Victoria Beckham
One of the hottest couples of the Y2K era, we absolutely love that Victoria and David Beckham have been together since the height of their stardom. They married in 1999, when Victoria was a shining superstar in Spice Girls and David was killing it on the soccer field. Now, they share four gorgeous children: Brooklyn, Romeo, Cruz, and Harper. “We love each other, look out for each other and are strong as both partners and parents,” Victoria once said. It’s the perfect celebrity love story!
12. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle
We can’t talk about celebrity couples without talking about this royal love story! Meghan Markle once posed in front of Buckingham Palace as a young girl, and now she’s a real life princess. Believe it or not, these two met on a blind date. Although they’ve caused quite the stir in the media (and in their family), it seems they have a lasting love, not to mention two gorgeous children, Archie and Lillet. Whether you love them or love to hate them, their love for each other sure is admirable.
13. Dax Shepard and Kristen Bell
If there’s one celebrity couple that knows how to get real about their relationship, it’s Dax Shepard and Kristen Bell. This duo met back in 2007 and tied the knot in 2013–they waited until same-sex marriage was legalized to do so! Now they have two children, Lincoln and Bella. Although they shield their kids from the limelight, they definitely aren’t afraid to open up about the realities of marriage. As Shepard once said, "We don't want anyone to think we met and it's been easy. Because if that's the expectation of a relationship, and certainly marriage, it's a bad expectation to have." Respect!
14. George and Amal Clooney
Who doesn’t love a good friends-to-lovers story? That’s exactly what happened with actor George Clooney and human rights lawyer Amal Clooney, who married in 2017. As George tells it, “I knew when I met her that she was super-extraordinary. I wondered if I would ever get a chance to date her. We were friends for a while and luckily she said yes.” Awww! Two years after marrying, Amal gave birth to their lovely twins, Ella and Alexander. We can’t get enough of this couple (or their red carpet looks)!
15. Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban
There’s no actress-musician duo quite like these two Australians. Nicole Kidman and her country star husband Keith Urban met back in 2005 and married just one year later. Hey–when you know, you know! And it seems Urban did know, right from the get-go. "Meeting her and getting married wasn't life-changing, it was life-beginning,” he said. Our eyes are watering! The happy couple now share two daughters, Sunday and Faith.
16. Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson
If you need an example of a lasting Hollywood love, look no further than Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson. These two have been married for over three decades. They tied the knot in 1988, seven years after they first met on the Bosom Buddies set. They have two kids, Chet and Truman, and it’s clear that they’re committed to one another. “We get along, I must say,” Hanks said. “I got lucky, she could have done better.” Too sweet!
17. Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton
He’s a little bit country… she’s a little bit pop princess… and they’re both coaches on The Voice. In fact, that’s howGwen Stefani and Blake Shelton first met. Their romance blossomed at a time when they were both going through breakups, and now they’ve found their happy ending, marrying in 2021. These two are too adorable for words, and we love that we can watch them live on TV–especially because some friendly competition is involved.
18. Mark Consuelos and Kelly Ripa
Ah, another sweet on-set romance! Kelly Ripa and husband Mark Conseulos met while filming All My Children. And, yes, they were love interests on the show. If you ask us, it was bound to happen! Just a year after meeting, the happy couple eloped in Las Vegas. Believe it or not, this happened right after they broke up and got back together. We love the chaos–and it worked for them, because they’re still happy as ever with three children: Lola, Joaquin, and Michael Joseph.
19 Amy Schumer and Chris Fischer
Comedian Amy Schumer found real love when she met chef and farmer Chris Fischer. These two married in 2018 and now have one child, Gene. Schumer says she knew Fischer was “the one,” and the rest is history! Of course, their marriage is filled with lots of humor. For their six month anniversary, Schumer captioned her Instagram post with: “Married 6 months today. I love you more every day. Sorry my fart woke us up this morning.” Gotta love a funny pair!
20. Mandy Moore and Taylor Goldsmith
Talk about a modern love story–believe it or not, actress Mandy Moore and musician Taylor Goldsmith met over Instagram. Moore was being a bit of a fan by posting a picture of an album by Goldsmith’s band, Dawes. Goldsmith saw the post and took the opportunity to shoot his shot by messaging her. Finally, a celebrity meet-cute the rest of us can actually aspire to! The lovebirds got married in 2018 and share two children: August and Ozzie (who was just born last month!).
21. Meryl Streep and Don Gummer
We honestly wouldn’t expect anything less than a long-lasting relationship from an actress as committed to everything, including her craft, as Meryl Streep. She’s been married to husband Don Gummer since 1978, and although the two are quite private about their relationship, it’s obvious they know a thing or two about lasting love. Streep says it’s all about communication: “You have to listen to your partner’s problems, suggestions, and advice, and accept that you’re not always right.” These two share four kids: Louisa, Grace, Mamie, and Henry.
22. Emma Stone and Dave McCary
Imagine having a career moment as large as hosting SNL and then meeting the love of your life on set that same night. That’s exactly what happened to Emma Stone in 2016, when she met segment director Dave McCary. These two married after two years of dating in 2019 and now have one daughter, Louise. We love this love story!
23. Julia Roberts and Danny Moder
For someone who’s starred in so many romcoms, it’s only natural that Julia Roberts found her own perfect love story. It started on the set of The Mexican in 2000, when she met cinematographer Danny Moder. They married two years later in 2002 and now have three children: Henry, Hazel, and Finn. Roberts says seeing her husband walk through the door is “like a recurring dream.” Too dang cute!
24. Emily Blunt and John Krasinski
We can think of very few couples as adorably charming as actors Emily Blunt and John Krasinski, who met in 2005 and married five years later. Although Krasinski said he always heard that he should never date an actress, it seems they’re a perfect match. "She understands the stress level involved [with acting], the amount of work. That’s completely priceless. For many reasons, Emily is perfect for me,” he once said. Aw! The happy couple shares two children named Hazel and Violet.
25. Nick Offerman and Megan Mullally
What makes a better couple than two people who both starred in sitcoms? Nick Offerman and Megan Mullally share a talent for acting and a keen sense of humor. In fact, they’ve even written a book together, aptly titled The Greatest Love Story Ever Told: An Oral History. Aside from all the laughs these two share, it’s evident that they also make each other better people. In fact, Offerman once said, “I feel like I was partly looking for this relationship because it saved my life.” They don’t have any children yet, but Mullally once said that when she met Offerman, she thought he was the only person she’d want to have kids with.
26. Faith Hill and Tim McGraw
We consider Faith Hill and Tim McGraw the royal couple of country music. They met back in 1994 and married just two years later. McGraw says it was love at first sight: “From the first time we met, I knew (she didn’t!) that she was the love of my life forever… No matter the ups and downs, the happy and sad or the good and bad,” he once shared on Instagram. So heartwarming! They now have three kids named Gracie, Audrey, and Maggie.
27. Serena Williams and Alexis Ohanian
Although a superstar tennis player and the founder of Reddit may seem like an unlikely couple, all it takes is one look at Serena Williams and husband Alexis Ohanian to know that these two are the real deal. They met while they were both vacationing in Rome, over a hotel breakfast (how romantic!) and married in 2017. The two now share one daughter, Alexis Olympia. Too sweet!
28. Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka
Lovebirds Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka met back in 2004, at which point Harris says he was immediately smitten with Burtka. Shortly after that, they began dating, and the couple got engaged after Harris came out of the closet two years later in 2006. However, their engagement was under wraps until 2011. They tied the knot in 2014, and now they have a happy family consisting of twins Harper and Gideon. Love it!
29. Oprah Winfrey and Stedman Graham
Although these two are not married and their relationship is quite private, Oprah Winfrey and Stedman Graham share an admirable, long-lasting relationship that we can’t help but gush over. Oprah may seem very independent, but it seems that’s what makes her relationship work so well. These two met back in 1986 and have stayed together ever since; Oprah refers to their relationship as “spiritual” and values each of their senses of independence. We love that!
30. Viola Davis and Julius Tennon
Talk about a power couple! Actress Viola Davis and football player Julius Tennon married in 2003 (after Davis claimed she prayed for someone just like him to come into their life, asking for “a big black man from the South who looked like a football player, who already had children, who maybe had been married before”). The two adopted their daughter, Genesis, in 2011, and Davis is now the stepmother of Tennon’s two children from his previous relationship, Sheavonda and Duriel.
31. Kurt Russel and Goldie Hawn
Actors Kurt Russel and Goldie Hawn met for the first time in 1966, but they fell in love on the set of their movie Swing Shift in 1983. Despite the fact that they’ve been together for so dang long, Hawn says they “have done just perfectly fine without marrying,” and we respect that! They share one biological child, Wyatt, and Kurt is the stepfather of Goldie’s previous children, Kate and Oliver Hudson, while Goldie is a mother figure to Kurt’s previous son, Boston.
32. Denzel and Pauletta Washington
This power couple met on the set of Wilma in 1977. Believe it or not, Denzel Washington says wife Pauletta turned down his proposal twice before she finally agreed! They married once and for all in 1983. Although they’ve kept their relationship mostly private over the years, Denzel has spoken about his commitment to his wife in the past. “I just think that you have to work at it. Not give up on each other. It’s a commitment,” he said. “It’s not all the honeymoon, it doesn’t last forever, so you work at it. And hopefully, you’re good friends first, that might help!”
33. Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick
Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick’s long-lasting love story is another one for the ages. They met when Sedgwick saw Bacon in a play, and eventually worked on a film (Lemon Sky) together a decade after that in 1987. They married shortly after in 1988, and their marriage has remained strong since then. They now have two children, Sosie and Travis.
34. Elizabeth Banks and Max Handelman
Forget high school sweethearts; Elizabeth Banks and Max Handelman are college sweethearts, and we think that’s just as sweet–especially considering the fact that they met on the very first day of their freshman year. Too cute! They married a little over a decade later, in 2003. Banks once said that their lasting marriage is the thing she’s most proud of. “I do think people grow together or they grow apart. We definitely grew together. We were constantly making decisions that kept us close,” she said.
35. Steve and Nancy Carrell
People may love the on-screen romances of The Office, but there’s nothing like the real thing happening off the screen. Steve Carrell and Nancy Carrell played love interests in the series (although Nancy only played Carol Stills for a handful of episodes) and were actually married in real life–they have been since 1995! To make this story even better, the two met in an improv class. “She's beautiful, intelligent and really funny. She kind of checked all the boxes in my head,” Steve said about his wife once. What a perfect match!
36. Seth Meyers and Alexi Ashe
What’s a better place to fall in love than at a wedding? That’s exactly what happened with comedian Seth Meyers and Alexi Ashe at the wedding of Seth Meyers’ friend and SNL cast member Chris Kattan. Meyers says he knew “pretty much right away” that Ashe was the one for him. The happy couple had their own wedding in 2013 and now share kids Ashe and Axel. We love a good love story!
37. Jimmy Fallon and Nancy Juvonen
Film producer Nancy Juvonen likely didn’t know she was going to meet her future husband, Jimmy Fallon, when she snuck into SNL rehearsals because friend Drew Barrymore was hosting in 2004, but that’s exactly what happened. Three years later, Fallon and Juvonen tied the knot, and now they have two daughters: Winnie Rose and Frances Cole. This love story really makes us think… should we be sneaking onto more TV sets?
38. Chip and Joanna Gaines
We love a celebrity couple that we can watch on television, like Fixer Upper stars Joanna and Chip Gaines, who have been married since 2003. While running a business and starring in a reality show together may sound like a lot to handle while maintaining a healthy marriage, Joanna says they make it work. "We really enjoy the problem solving, but there comes a point when we need to focus on us,” she said once. “We have the weekly date nights where we try our hardest not to talk business." We love how they find that balance!
39. Jimmy Kimmel and Molly McNearney
Jimmy Kimmel and Molly McNearney offer up yet another adorable on-set, workplace love story. As it turns out, McNearney was a writing assistant for Kimmel’s late night show, Jimmy Kimmel Live, before she became his wife in 2013. And now they still work together! That’s right: McNearney is now the co-head writer, and it seems they’re thriving–both at work and at home. McNearney even said that Kimmel likes to call himself her “husboss.” “But I refuse to call him that,” she clarifies. Too funny! They have two kids, William and Jane.
40. Sarah Michelle Gellar and Freddie Prinze Jr.
After meeting on the set of their iconic film, I Know What You Did Last Summer, in the equally iconic year of 2000, this superstar couple married in 2002. Although they’re both no stranger to the spotlight (in fact, they’ve starred in multiple movies together, including as Daphne and Fred in the Scooby Doo franchise), they do prefer to keep their relationship mostly private, which is likely part of what makes it such a successful partnership. Gellar and Prinze Jr. have two children named Charlotte and Rocky.
41. Jerry and Jessica Seinfeld
A comedian as funny as Jerry Seinfeld needs an equally funny partner, and it seems that’s exactly what he found in wife Jessica, who he married back in 1999. “We always have fun and we laugh and she’s got a great sense of humor,” he once gushed. “She’s very quick and sarcastic and all the qualities that I like. She’s very sharp.” What a perfect duo! Believe it or not, these lovebirds met at the gym. Now they share children Sascha, Julian, and Shepherd. We’re sure family dinners are filled with laughter.
42. Matt and Luciana Damon
Matt Damon and wife Luciana’s meet-cute sounds like something from a romance novel; they met when Matt stopped into the bar Luciana was working at in Miami. Matt had to hide behind the bar with her when too many fans started to bother him–and Luciana put him to work making drinks! The adorable couple married in 2005 and now have four kids, Alexia, Isabella, Gia, and Stella. Matt has referred to Luciana as his soulmate. “I don’t like being apart from her,” he once said. Awww!
43. Leslie Mann and Judd Apatow
Here’s another Hollywood couple with a great work/marriage balance. Director Judd Apatow and actress Leslie Mann have worked on many movies together, including Knocked Up, The 40-Year-Old Virgin, and others. Meanwhile, their marriage has been thriving since their wedding in 1997! They have a star-studded family, as daughters Iris and Maude are both in the acting biz as well (you may recognize Maude from HBO’s Euphoria). Mann has said Apatow is her soulmate, and we definitely believe that.
And many more!
Despite the reputation that celebrity relationships have for being short-lived and shallow, there's a practically endless number of adorable, long-lasting Hollywood romances. We could go on forever! However, we hope this list of 43 was enough to remind you that true love is out there, even in the rough and tough world of show biz.
