Breakfast can be a challenge for many people. Some don’t feel like eating in the morning, and others just don’t have the time to make something nutritious. This is when individuals will quickly make a stop at a fast food chain like McDonald’s for a quick bite in the morning. Although this isn’t the healthiest choice, McDonald’s breakfast can be surprisingly adaptable for those aiming to lose weight.

While it does offer indulgent items that are high in calories, sugar, and fat, it also offers items that can fit into a weight loss plan if you’re willing to make a few adjustments.

McDonald’s Breakfast For Slimming Down

Amber, a weight loss coach who lost 160 pounds, took to TikTok to share what she used to order at McDonald’s for breakfast and what she orders now after she lost excess fat.

Amber used to go for the hotcakes and sausage, which came to a whopping 770 calories, 1 hash brown for 140 calories, and a large vanilla iced coffee for 280 calories. Her entire morning meal totaled 1,190 calories. Yikes!

“Mind you, that was breakfast. So I was eating all throughout the rest of the day,” she adds.

Fast forward to now, she orders an egg McMuffin that’s only 310 calories, the same hash brown, and a small iced latte for just 90 calories. That totals to 580 calories, which is a solid decrease from her unhealthy breakfast order.

“Literally almost half the amount of calories. Simple swaps go a long way!”

The bottom line

Making smarter, less restrictive choices at McDonald’s can help with weight loss without feeling deprived. As Amber demonstrates, instead of indulgent hotcakes and sausage combos, she opted for a more balanced meal that gave her some protein, carbs, and a smaller-sized drink to wake her up.

Focusing on protein-rich, lower-calorie options and cutting out excess sugar makes it very possible to enjoy fast food without feeling guilty and compromising your weight loss goals.
