Skinny jeans come and skinny jeans go, but the universally flattering jeans that never go anywhere are flare jeans.

Stylists agree that when it comes to leg-lengthening and butt-lifting, no other denim style holds a candle to flare.

Here’s what the experts are saying:

Flattering Flare Jeans

“High waisted flare jeans are so great if you’re on the shorter side or even if you want to just add a few inches,” stylist and influencer Chriselle Lim said. “They’re super flattering, will make your legs look tall, and will always make your butt look great!” Her favorite pair? 7 For All Mankind’s The Dojo jean, “a classic silhouette with super stretch and breathable fabric.”

Editors at the Huffington Post agree. “The slight A-line at the bottom makes calves and thighs appear thinner and is the perfect place to hide a heel (which will make those legs look even longer),” they wrote.

Senior Fashion Market Editor Judith Jones at Who What Wear is totally on board as well. “The non–skinny jean trend has already been spotted all over the ’gram on some of our favorite influencers and celebrities,” she wrote.

“This season, the trending silhouette calls for full-length jeans with a trouser-like wide leg and a waist-cinching high rise. There are plenty of cool and modern iterations of the ’70s trend on the market right now, like wider-leg styles and boot-cut silhouettes. There’s something to suit every taste and body type.”

Some of her favorite pairs? Agolde’s Vintage Hi-Rise Flare Jeans and J Brand’s 1219 Runway Super High-Rise Boot Cut.
