It’s perfectly natural to lose about 50 to 100 strands of hair everyday, whether they fall out while you’re sleeping, in the shower, or when you’re brushing through your locks. However, there does come a point when hair loss becomes abnormal, and if you’re losing clumps of hair each day or beginning to notice balding patches on your scalp, you may want to look into taking more extensive measures for sparking regrowth and improving the health of your hair. Hair loss experts note that there are a variety of avenues you can pursue when growing back thinning locks, from topical solutions to vitamins and supplements that support a healthy scalp.

If you’re looking for small, natural changes you can make in your day to day life which will aid in growing back thinning locks, you may want to consider adding certain foods into your diet that have been known to spark hair growth even thicker and healthier than before. Combating thinning strands, this is the one food that experts agree you should be eating regularly to achieve your best locks so you no longer have to worry about balding patches or fragile hair.

Protein is an essential macronutrient that your body needs to thrive in all aspects of your health. Not only does it help to provide you with energy and fuel your muscles for weight loss, but protein is also important for preserving a flawless complexion and strong strands.

In skimping on your protein intake, you may find that your strands are thinning and more fragile, so a imple fix for hair fall out is to integrate more protein into your diet. In particular, eggs are especially great for hair loss as they also provide your body with a healthy dose of biotin. MD Rebecca Kazin explains to Prevention, “Without enough protein, your body can’t replace the hairs that you naturally shed every day.” Coming in at 12 grams of protein per serving, eggs are the perfect addition to your daily eating plan to improve your overall health and the strength of your hair.

There’s a reason that protein is so important in your body, and without hitting your intake goals your health may suffer. “Eating adequate protein is important for hair growth because hair follicles are made of mostly protein. A lack of protein in the diet has been shown to promote hair loss,” reports Healthline. When you aren’t replenishing your body’s protein stores, your locks may become weak and limp, leading them to fall out excessively. Although consuming more protein isn’t a one-size-fits-all solution to thinning hair, it can certainly help to provide more strength to your existing locks.

Starting your day off with a nutrient-dense egg breakfast is going to improve the quality of your locks by offering your body biotin and protein for stronger and healthier strands. “Eggs are chock full of protein and essential nutrients that contribute to hair health, such as choline and vitamins A, D, and B12,” Stefani Sassos, MD, RDN, CSO, CDN tells Good Housekeeping.

“You'll want to make sure you keep the yolk in your scramble to get the most Vitamin D. Two specific carotenoids found in eggs, lutein and zeaxanthin, also play a role in maintaining cellular health, especially of eyes, skin, and hair.” Scrambled eggs in combination with spinach and mushrooms which are also biotin rich veggies can strengthen your locks so they can fight against fallout without snapping and breaking.

While more severe hair loss should be addressed by a professional, if you’re merely noticing a slight increase in hair breakage and fallout, boosting your protein intake can be a great way to improve the overall health of your body and your strands. Sparking new hair growth of thicker and healthier locks as well as providing biotin to strengthen your strands and nails, you should notice a change in the quality of your hair by implementing these small adjustments into your routine. Elevating both your confidence and your locks, increased protein intake can be a great addition to your diet for a great head of hair that won’t succumb to fallout.
