If you struggle with thinning hair and fallout then you know the frustration of determining how to style your locks to look their best. While hair loss can stem from a number of causes such as genetics, a bad reaction to your styling products, and even stress and anxiety, there are methods that you can follow to style your hair so that it appears thicker than it is. To conceal thinning locks and boost the strands you have, these are the four styles and cuts you should be trying out this spring.

The 100+ Best New Beauty Launches Of 2024

Pixie Cut with Layers

If you’re feeling adventurous the next time you’re at the salon, a pixie cut with layers can be a great way to hide thinning patches of hair while playing up your natural texture. Hair expert Ghanima Abdullah explains, “Shorter hair almost always looks fuller. Make sure your stylist adds layers to give your hair some volume and help avoid a visible scalp.”

Topknot

If you like to wear your hair on the longer side, a topknot is the perfect, classy style to pull out to conceal thinning hair while looking chic. “Oh, what this style can do to hide thinning in the crown! As long as you don’t sleep in it, it’s also a great way to protect thinning tresses up top,” says Abdullah. Just don’t overdo it on the styling products, they could be making your fallout worse!

Side Part & Bob

A side part will naturally add a little volume to the crown of your head, helping to give your locks a boost and hide any thinning. “This is great at disguising a thinning crown, and temples. It’s parted right above the temple area and goes straight back. This way some hair covers one side and a lot of hair covers the other. Consider brushing in some color on the temples where the hair only partially covers the thinning,” advises Abdullah. Plus, bobs are super low maintenance so your styling time could be cut in half if you opt for this look.

Messy Updo

Much like a topknot, a messy updo will add some texture to your hair while concealing thinning hair near the crown of your head. Bobby pins will be your best friend with this look, but Abdullah warns to steer clear of using too much hairspray as it can clog your hair follicles when used in excess, leading to worsening fallout.
