Who doesn’t want a great hands-free experience when using their iPhone? If you’ve been thinking of ways to make your iPhone experience even more convenient, you’ve come to the right place. Tech experts weighed in with their favorite hands-free phone hacks — and these are the hacks that came up on top.
Voice CommandsUsing voice commands to control your phone is a common hands-free phone hack for a good reason: it’s so convenient. “You can perform this with your phone’s speech assistant, such as Siri or Google Assistant,” said Tech Expert Ben Walker, owner of Ditto Transcript. “You can use voice commands to make calls, send texts, set reminders, and carry out other actions without touching your phone. That is advantageous while driving or performing other tasks where utilizing your hands is challenging or risky.”
Tech Expert Tom Thorns at Mallorca Info agrees: “It’s also useful to set reminders, schedule appointments, and even play music,” Thorns said.
Bluetooth Earphones Or Headset“[Bluetooth headsets] connect to your phone wirelessly and allow you to answer and make calls without having to hold your phone to your ear,” Thorns said. “They also often come with built-in noise-cancellation technology, making them a great option for taking calls in noisy environments. I personally use a Jabra Elite 75t and it’s been a game changer for me, it has a great noise cancellation, good sound quality and a comfortable fit.”
Walker says people who regularly take work calls or need to keep both hands free for other chores may find Bluetooth accessories especially helpful. “In addition, you can use voice commands with Bluetooth earphones and headsets that include built-in voice assistants,” Walker said.
Phone Mount“A Phone mount for your car is a third way to avoid holding your phone while driving,” Walker said. “It allows you to keep it in a fixed position so you can view it and use it. That is especially helpful for making hands-free calls or utilizing GPS navigation while driving. You may also use a mount with an integrated speaker and microphone to make and receive calls without ever touching your phone.”
SmartwatchFor those who prefer to keep their phone in their pocket or bag while on the go, Thorns recommends a smartwatch. “Many smartwatches now have cellular capabilities, allowing you to make and receive calls and texts directly from your watch,” Thorns said. “Additionally, smartwatches often have fitness tracking features, which can be beneficial for those who want to stay active while still staying connected. I have a Samsung Galaxy Watch 3, it’s been great for me, it’s a great fitness tracker, and I can receive calls and texts without having to take my phone out.”
Car SpeakerphoneLastly, for those who prefer a more “old-school” approach, Thorns says a car speakerphone can be a great option. “These devices connect to your phone via Bluetooth and allow you to make and receive calls through your car’s speaker system,” Thorns said. “It’s a great solution for those who spend a lot of time on the road and want to keep their hands free while driving.”
Overall, Thorns reminds us that the best hands-free phone hack will vary depending on your personal preferences and needs. “However, by using a Bluetooth headset, a voice-controlled personal assistant, a smartwatch, or a car speakerphone, you can greatly enhance your hands-free phone experience and stay connected while on the go.”
