Sometimes, no matter what you try, you just can’t seem to get rid of those infuriating flakes we all know as dandruff. If you’ve tried all the shampoos and conditioning treatments and still can’t get rid off those pesky white flakes, don’t lose hope.

We asked a hair expert and this is actually the best way to banish dandruff once and for all.

60+ Gift Ideas For Everyone On Your List

Cosmetologist and hair expert, Ghanima Abdullah, let us in on a super simple yet exceedingly effective remedy for dandruff.

She explained, “Most types of dandruff are fungal in nature. Vinegar is anti-fungal and helps get rid of dandruff scales when used on a regular basis.”

And while most dandruff is fungal, other types of dandruff can be caused by product buildup or scalp irritation.

Vinegar works for both! Abdullah shared, “Vinegar soothes the scalp and also removes product buildup from the hair and scalp.

Best of all? Vinegar is not only the most effective way of banishing dandruff, it also happens to be the cheapest!

The best way to use it, Abdullah says is: “Simply mix three parts water to one part apple cider vinegar. After washing your hair with shampoo, pour the vinegar mix through your scalp and hair. Massage it gently into the scalp using your fingertips and allow it to sit for two minutes. Then rinse and condition as usual.” Dandruff? Gone.
