Beyoncé Just Announced Major Music News On Social Media— Fans Are So Excited!
June 16, 2022 by Marissa Matozzo
The Beyhive is going wild on the Internet today after Beyoncé announced that Renaissance (her first solo record since 2016) will be released next month! The Grammy winner, 40, and her record label revealed on June 16th that her forthcoming project will arrive on July 29th (and the LP will feature 16 new tracks). Finally!
Beyoncé’s last solo effort was 2016’s magnificent and critically acclaimed Lemonade, and her last major release was a joint effort with her husband Jay-Z, the record Everything Is Love, released in 2018. (Yes, it really has been that long!) Since then, the “Formation” hitmaker has leant her vocal talents to other collaborative projects, starred in the live-action Lion King film, and most recently, she notably performed her original song “Be Alive” from King Richard at the 2022 Oscars.
As Twitter users continue to share their excitement and anticipation over the record, we do have an inkling as to what the long-awaited album will sound like (and seems to be as amazing as expected). In a new British Vogue cover story (unveiled shortly after her album announcement), the editor-in-chief of the publication, Edward Enninful, recalled his experience hearing Renaissance in person.
“Instantly, a wall of sound hits me,” Enninful wrote. “Soaring vocals and fierce beats combine and in a split second I’m transported back to the clubs of my youth. I want to get up and start throwing moves. It’s music I love to my core.” He continued, Music that makes you rise, that turns your mind to cultures and subcultures, to our people past and present, music that will unite so many on the dance floor, music that touches your soul. As ever with Beyoncé, it is all about the intent. I sit back, after the wave, absorbing it all.”
Here’s what we know about the record so far— it will contain 16 new songs, and its new box set listing confirms the release of Renaissance includes a CD, T-shirt, and a collectible souvenir box. The product image will update when campaign artwork is revealed, Pitchfork reports, and the box will come with a 28-page booklet and mini poster. In other words, Sasha Fierce fans are in for a treat! As one fan on Twitter perhaps said it best, “we’ve made it through the Beyoncé drought” and we couldn’t be more excited for her new full-length solo effort.
