Beyoncé has just landed herself in hot water with her fans! Instead of sharing a post in celebration of her birthday on September 4th, the 43-year-old “Texas Hold’Em” singer and style icon shared a video promoting her SirDavis whisky instead. And fans were not happy about it!
Beyoncé teamed up with Moët Hennessy and master distiller Bill Lumsden for her American whisky debut, and controversially chose her birthday as the day to share the promotional video for it with her fans.

Beyoncé Posts SirDavis Promo Video On Her Birthday
SirDavis is blended and bottled in the mom-of-three’s home state of Texas, and officially became available for fans to buy on September 4th.
In the video, which the 32-time Grammy winner shared with her 316M Instagram followers, she says: “I like my whisky with a bite.”
“I want you to try something for the first time,” the Cécred founder continues in the video, adding: “Satisfy your curiosity. Make it a night to remember. Lock eyes with the unknown and toast to the new. And when the dust settles, let the memories pour.”
Beyoncé Issues A Press Release Ahead Of The Release Of Her SirDavis Whisky
"I've always been drawn to the power and confidence I feel when drinking quality whisky and wanted to invite more people to experience that feeling," Beyoncé said in a press release back in August, which is when fans could place their pre-orders.
"When I discovered that my great-grandfather had been a moonshine man, it felt like my love for whisky was fated," she continued in the statement, adding: "SirDavis is a way for me to pay homage to him, uniting us through a new shared legacy."
Beyoncé Faces Backlash For Promoting SirDavis On Her Birthday
While countless fans were understandably excited that the "Single Ladies" singer was the latest A-lister to step into the lucrative alcohol business, many others weren't happy that she chose to promote it on her birthday, as it suggested that she only wanted to engage with her fans when she had something to promote.
They would have much rather seen some personal photos of their idol celebrating her birthday with her family and friends – and some killer outfits! – instead.
"She gonna take every damn dollar y'all got," wrote one fan in the comments section. "Poison. But makin' [dollar emoji.] Gotta get that next jet," added a second," as a third exclaimed: "She's going for that billionaire status for sure!"
Many others wondered why she didn't reference her birthday or post personal pictures, with one writing, "Ummm are you gonna post for your birthday orrrr," and another asking, "Where [are] our birthday pics?" Someone else slammed: "You only engage when you wanna sell something."
A few others wondered whether Beyoncé even drank alcohol, or if she was like Jennifer Lopez, who came under fire for launching her own alcohol brand despite not drinking. "When has anyone seen Beyoncé with a drink in her hand?" questioned one fan, as another quipped: "Shawty don't even drink."

For what it's worth, the "Crazy in Love" singer gave fans what they wanted two days later, perhaps after reading the comments. On September 6th, she shared a carousel of pictures with her followers, with the caption: "I'm so grateful for another year. Thank you for the loving birthday wishes."
The first picture in the carousel showed her posing in a teeny tiny Emilio Pucci mini skirt and a printed top, as well as a head scarf and green and black heels, also by Emilio Pucci. She is also wearing a fabulous pair of Gucci cat-eye sunglasses, and holding some birthday balloons in one hand, and what we assume is a glass of whisky in the other hand. The rest of the pictures in the carousel were seemingly taken on that same day as she celebrated her birthday in style.
