Like most of us, Blake Lively‘s weight has fluctuated over the years, especially during and after her four pregnancies. And when she was pregnant with her and husband Ryan Reynolds’ second child – daughter Inez, who was born on September 30th, 2016 – Blake wasn’t afraid to tell her fans that she gained a total of 61 pounds during that pregnancy.
The 36-year-old Gossip Girl alum was always very open with her fans about her weight loss journey, and at the time, went into detail about just how she lost 60 lbs after Inez was born, as well as how long the weight loss took her. We wish every A-lister was this candid!
Blake Lively Reveals How She Lost 60 Lbs
Blake and Ryan, 47, regularly post hilarious social media messages about themselves and each other; and Blake once again went down the humor route when it came to sharing her weight loss journey with her fans.
In February 2018, Blake posted a picture of herself on Instagram flaunting her super-toned arms and rock-hard abs and posing with her personal trainer. She captioned the post: "Turns out you can't lose the 61 lbs you gained during pregnancy by just scrolling through Instagram and wondering why you don't look like all the bikini models."
The A Simple Favor actress went on to credit her personal trainer Don Saladino, while also telling fans looking for a quick fix just how long it took her to get back to her pre-baby shape and weight. We love how she always keeps it real!

"Thanks @donsaladino for kickin my A double S into shape," her post continued. "10 months to gain, 14 months to lose. Feeling very proud." Saladino also mentioned how proud he was of his client on Instagram, writing: "Couldn’t be more proud @blakelively! 61 pounds in 14 months after baby number 2!"
The Green Lantern actress has every reason to be proud, as the results are more than obvious in side by side pictures from before, during, and after her second pregnancy.
Lively and Saladino have worked together for years, including for films such as The Shallows, where Blake had to get into surfer shape and rock a bikini in just ten months. And anyone who has seen the movie knows that Blake succeeded!
"I've never been in that great a shape in my whole life," she said, according to People. "So to do it after having a kid was actually really nice. Because you see your body after having a kid and it's beautiful because you just gave birth, but it's also 'Oh my God, this is not what my body looks like.' You feel like you're never going to get your body back again."
She also told The Sun at the time: "It took two different trainers and a nutritionist to help me get into that sort of shape because it’s not normal to look like that eight months after having a kid. Women put pressure on themselves to look like a Victoria’s Secret model after having a baby. It’s absolutely absurd. It was my job to look that way." We love her candidness!
How Did Blake Lively Lose Weight After Pregnancy?
Saladino also helped the Age of Adaline actress get in shape after giving birth to her first child, daughter James in 2014, and shared some of their weight loss tricks with Cosmopolitan back in 2016. According to the pub, Lively trained five or six times a week, with sessions lasting anywhere from 30 minutes to 75 minutes. And Saladino said that he took her status as a new mom into consideration before each session, and wouldn’t give her a hard time if she wasn’t feeling her best.
"She never questions me. She always does what I want her to do," Saladino said, before adding: "If she comes in, and being like any other mom, she was up all night with the baby and didn't sleep well, I'm not going to beat the [expletive] out of her. That's the worst thing to do for someone."
How Diet And Nutrition Played A Huge Part In Blake Lively's Weight Loss
The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants alum also followed a strict gluten-free and soy-free diet. "Once you remove soy, you realize you're eating no processed foods," she said, according to People. "No processed foods and then working out. [It] seems like, 'Oh, that's really easy to cut that out,' but then you realize, there's soy in everything." But she didn’t restrict herself completely, adding: "I was still able to have sugar and all of those things. It's all in moderation. You just have a balance of protein, carbs, and vegetables. And it wasn't the worst. Like, I was eating rice and sushi."
Whatever Blake did, it clearly worked. And it seems like she has stuck to the same winning exercise and nutrition routine following the birth of her fourth child, as she blew fans away when she walked the red carpet for the reopening of The Landmark at Tiffany & Co 5th Avenue in New York City back in April! No one would have known that she had recently given birth!
Blake wasn’t shy about flaunting her post pregnancy figure at the star-studded red carpet event, and wore a stunning and figure-flattering brown leather ensemble from the Brandon Maxwell pre-fall 2022 collection to highlight and flatter her curves. She looked incredible!
Saladino opened up to Life & Style in an August 2023 interview about how nutrition played a huge part in Blake's present-day appearance, saying: "Calories are energy. Staying consistent should be your focus. However, results will take more than 30 to 60 minutes of exercise per day. Nutrition matters!"
The Rhythm Section actress has seemingly lost even more weight since, with her transformation being hard to ignore at the Michael Kors Spring/Summer 2024 show back in September; and then again at the designer's Fall/Winter 2024 show in New York earlier this month.
In September 2023, Blake wore a stunning gold sequined waist-cinching jumpsuit that highlighted her curves perfectly. She reminisced about the look in December 2023, telling her Instagram followers: "Only Michael Kors could get me to squeeze into gold sequins way too soon after having a baby. Love you MK."
And her February 2024 look for the Michael Kors fashion show during New York Fashion Week was just as wow-worthy, especially as it really highlighted her toned physique! She wore a bold giraffe-print look, consisting of a furry trench coat and mini skirt, both in the standout print, teamed with a dark brown sweater and brown knee-high boots. She's never looked better!
Also in February, Blake made fans' jaws drop when she attended the Super Bowl at Las Vegas' Allegiant Stadium with Taylor Swift and Ice Spice, among others. It's clear that she was supporting the Kansas City Chiefs (and Swift's boyfriend, Travis Kelce) by wearing a Balenciaga x Adidas tracksuit in the team's red and white colors. Blake flaunted her fit and super-toned figure by wearing a white cropped tank top by Aritzia, proving just how far she has come since the birth of her fourth child. Those sculpted abs were impossible to ignore!
Blake rendered her fans almost speechless when she shared another picture of herself posing by her fireplace with the Deadpool trailer in the background. Still sporting her voluminous curls from the Super Bowl, Blake posed braless in a longline red cardigan and some light-wash jeans. Wow!
