Blake Shelton Raves, 'My Wife Put Out A New Song Today'
On June 23rd, just a few hours after the release of "True Babe", Blake hopped on his Instagram to post a picture of his wife Gwen on the cover image for the single with the caption "My wife put out a new song today.. you know... THE GWEN STEFANI!!!!!!! Go listen people!!!! It's a hit!!!!! I'm so proud of you @gwenstefani!!!" The song features lyrics about the romance still present even in a long-term relationship, with lyrics like "And we're from two different worlds / But you still call me your pretty girl" clearly referring to her opposites-attract relationship with her The Voice co-star, who just left the show in its 23rd season. Stefani is still staying on as a coach for now.
Fans adored Blake's supportive post, with comments like, "The support you show for your wife is amazing," and, "It’s her love letter to you," pouring in from fans.
A joking video the next day had Blake himself wearing camo working on his lawn and singing "new lyrics" along to his wife's song: "Take this truck and cut up this tree," Blake sang to the tune of "True Babe" as he whipped his camera around to the yard work in front of him. Followers were charmed by the sweet and silly video as well: "Ngl, I was waiting for posts like this. We love the funny and supportive husband you are," said one. Another remarked, "You're the best and the most supportive!"
Gwen And Blake Celebrated 2nd Wedding Anniversary On July 3rd
The new single wasn't all the musical couple had to celebrate: their wedding anniversary was marked on July 3rd, 2 years since they married in 2021 at star-studded nuptials after dating for 5 years.
In her post marking the happy occasion, the No Doubt singer wrote, "happy anniversary @blakeshelton i love u!!!" and shared a sweet and silly photo and video montage from the couple's history and beautiful wedding day:
Blake is stepfather to Gwen's 3 sons with ex-husband Gavin Rossdale: Kingston, 17; Zuma, 14; and Apollo, 9. The family of 5 was all present when the "Boys 'Round Here" singer received his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in May. Shelton said at the ceremony, "I kind of stopped checking things off my list of great accomplishments in my life when I married Gwen, so this is just icing on the cake." He referred to Gwen directly, saying, "I love you so much, and that's the great thing that's happened along this journey."
Gwen and Blake have shared the musical spotlight in a number of duets over the years, including on Gwen's 2017 holiday album, You Make it Feel Like Christmas, and during the accompanying NBC Christmas special of the same name.
