A judge has mandated that Brad Pitt must provide documents and communications that might demonstrate his abusive behavior towards his ex-wife, Angelina Jolie, and their six children. This development marks a significant legal win for the Girl, Interrupted actress, 49.
Jolie and the Bullet Train actor, 60, appear resolute in revisiting their history and launching all possible accusations at one another during their bitter legal fight over their French vineyard, Chateau Miraval.
This contentious battle has witnessed Jolie and Pitt taking shots at each other through legal documents. The Moneyball star sued the Eternals alum in 2022 for selling her portion of their estate.
Brad Pitt Must Provide Documents In Messy Chateau Miraval Legal Battle With Angelina Jolie After Her 'Abuse' Claims
Pitt and Jolie have been officially single since 2019, even though Jolie first filed for divorce in 2016. The separation is yet to be finalized.
The pair initially crossed paths while filming Mr. & Mrs. Smith in 2005 and started a relationship a few years afterward. They have six children together, including Maddox, 23, Pax, 21, Zahara, 19, Shiloh, 18, Knox, 16, and Vivienne, 16. Pitt adopted Maddox and Zahara in 2006 after he and Jolie became romantically involved.
On August 23, 2014, "Brangelina" exchanged vows in a private ceremony held in the quaint French village of Correns. Yet, after spending ten years together and being wed for two, their union concluded when Jolie sought a divorce on September 20, 2016.
According to court documents reviewed by The Daily Mail, Pitt has been directed to provide records starting from the day Jolie alleges he abused her on a private plane just before their split in 2016.
She had earlier accused him of spilling red wine and beer on his former partner and one of their kids during a flight on a private plane. Pitt has consistently denied any allegations of abuse and was exonerated by law enforcement after a thorough investigation.
However, in filings, Jolie claimed that his "history of physical abuse" began "well before" the plane altercation. Jolie requested the court to compel Pitt to reveal all communications from September 14, 2016, to December 31, 2018, The Daily Mail reports.
This would encompass emails, text messages, and other written exchanges, excluding those with his lawyers or therapists.
Angelina Jolie Claims That Brad Pitt 'Forced Her Silence' On Abuse Allegations
Back in July, the Atelier Jolie founder submitted paperwork alleging that the World War Z star attempted to coerce her into signing a $8.5 million non-disclosure agreement to hide "years of abuse."
Simultaneously, her attorneys requested that the court require Pitt to reveal "private, third-party communications" concerning their family's 2016 plane trip, which led to Jolie filing for divorce.
On November 25th, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Lia Martin made the decision after Jolie's attorneys argued that the papers would support her assertion that Pitt attempted to force her into signing a non-disclosure agreement.
