Brad Pitt Told 'Parade' That He Wasn't 'Living An Interesting Life'

In the unforgettable interview, the Bullet Train star reflected on his pre-Angelina life. He explained that he "started feeling pathetic," and looked to taking on more exciting movie roles to fill a void.

"It became very clear to me that I was intent on trying to find a movie about an interesting life, but I wasn't living an interesting life myself," the F1 actor told Parade, before seemingly referencing his relationship with the Friends alum.

The Babylon actor explained that he spent much of the nineties "sitting on a couch, holding a joint, hiding out," and then confessed: "I think that my marriage had something to do with it. Trying to pretend the marriage was something that it wasn't." Ouch!

Brad Pitt Seemingly Criticized His Marriage To Jennifer Aniston In 2013 Too

That wasn't the only time that the actor – who is now dating Ines de Ramon after splitting with Jolie in 2016 – seemingly criticized his marriage to the Morning Show actress. Back in 2013, Pitt spoke to US Esquire about a certain time in his life (which is believed to be when he chose to star in Mr. and Mrs. Smith, where he met and fell in love with Jolie) when he decided that he didn't want to waste his opportunities any more. And many people interpreted that as a dig at Aniston.

Although he didn't mention the movie or his ex by name, many people thought that he didn't need to. He said at the time: "For a long time I thought I did too much damage – drug damage. I was a bit of a drifter. But then I got burnt out and felt that I was wasting my opportunity."

He then went on to reference the "epiphany" he had ten years prior to the interview, which observant fans will know is around the time he accepted the role in Mr. and Mrs. Smith. He added: "It was a conscious change. This was about a decade ago. It was an epiphany – a decision not to squander my opportunities. It was a feeling of get up. Because otherwise, what's the point?"

Angelina Jolie Reportedly Helped Brad Pitt 'Unleash' His Full Potential, According To Makeup Artist

Pitt's makeup artist at the time, Jean Black, said that the Girl, Interrupted actress was able to "unleash" Brad's full potential. According to The Mirror, Black said: "I think Brad was ready to soar when he met Angie."

"This is not to say anything negative about Jennifer. I was part of that and I know that he and Jen are very good friends and he cared deeply for her," Black continued, adding: "In Angie he saw a very adventurous person who was grabbing onto life and taking it to its nth degree. It was intriguing as I felt Brad had that in him and wanted to unleash it."
