This week, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie concluded their divorce proceedings, bringing an end to their contentious and widely–covered eight-year legal dispute. This comes after reports that the Fight Club actor, 61, has no intention of taking up a lucrative offer to co–star with his former wife, Jolie, 49, in a new movie.
Sources close to the Bullet Train star have dismissed the proposal as a “publicity stunt.” The Daily Mail reports that producer Danny Rossner aims to cast the ex-couple as lovers in a film about real-life hotelier Emmanuel Martinez. Rossner, the publication highlighted, is optimistic that the separated pair can set aside “their differences” for the benefit of his two–decade–long passion project.
Brad Pitt Allegedly Declined an Opportunity to Co-Star with Angelina Jolie During Legal Dispute
Insiders close to Pitt, however, assert that the Moneyball alum would never degrade and "lower himself" by accepting payment to collaborate with someone who has brought him such significant pain and "heartache." An insider dished to the outlet: "All the money in the world wouldn’t get Brad to appear in a movie with Angelina ever again."
They added: "It would definitely spark public interest, but it’s not anything he would ever consider for a moment." The tipster went on: "They are currently bitter enemies so there is no way Brad would lower himself to be paid any amount of money to talk to Angie on screen."
'Brangelina' Finally Conclude Their Divorce Proceedings
Regarding the Maria actress, they said: "She's caused him so much heartache and doesn’t even want his inner circle to talk about her." An additional insider noted that Rossner's reported offer was a "clever publicity stunt" and "not something either side entertained." They stressed: "There was never any real offer."
Jolie's attorney, James Simon, informed Fox News Digital that Pitt and Jolie finalized their divorce on Monday. In a statement, Simon said: "More than eight years ago, Angelina filed for divorce from Mr. Pitt." He added: "She and the children left all of the properties they had shared with Mr. Pitt, and since that time she has focused on finding peace and healing for their family."
"This is just one part of a long ongoing process that started eight years ago. Frankly, Angelina is exhausted, but she is relieved this one part is over." Another source also told the outlet: "She doesn’t speak ill of him publicly or privately. She’s been trying hard to be light after a dark time." They went on: "The kids have grown up seeing that some people have so much power and privilege that their voices don’t matter."
The Girl, Interrupted alum and World War Z star share six children: Maddox, 23, Pax, 21, Zahara, 19, Shiloh, 18, and 16-year-old twins Vivienne and Knox. The source continued: "Their pain doesn’t count. They have wanted her to speak up for herself, to defend herself over these years but she reminds them to focus on changing laws over telling public stories."
