Angelina Jolie Accuses Brad Pitt Of Physical Abuse; FBI Investigates
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie once shared a family of eight, and during one fateful private plane ride back in 2016, Jolie alleges that Pitt physically and verbally abused both her and their children. She recalls that Brad "choked one of the children and struck another in the face," as well as poured beer on both her and the kids.
She also reported that Pitt insulted Jolie and "grabbed her by the head and shook her, and then grabbed her by the shoulders and shook her again before pushing her into the bathroom wall." Consequently, Pitt was investigated by the FBI and the Los Angeles Department of Child and Family Services.
Investigation Closes: Brad Pitt Faces No Charges
However, just this month, the FBI closed their investigation without bringing any charges to the Once Upon A Time In Hollywood actor. Whether out of outrage, disappointment, or the desire for justice, Angelina Jolie then filed a lawsuit against the FBI and the Department of Justice to make the details of the alleged assault public.
Something must've happened to change the actress' mind, though, because she later quietly dropped her complaint and filed to dismiss the action with prejudice. The case is now officially closed and Jolie cannot file again.
A Win, But At What Cost?
According to sources close to Pitt, he is feeling victorious. "Brad is taking this as a victory," the source told Star magazine. "He's relieved the FBI file will remain sealed. He's disgusted by his past behavior but he refuses to take the rap for something he's long maintained isn't true."
However, while he may see this particular battle as a win, he's lost much more. The insider source added that the so-called victory was "bittersweet" because he "lost his family—he lost everything."
Four of his children have in fact chosen sides, with Pax publicly calling Pitt a "f***ing awful human," and Shiloh, Vivienne, and Zahara publicly dropping "Pitt" from their last names.
