When you’re a celebrity who has access to every home meal delivery service, every amazing chef, every organic food on planet Earth — and you still choose seemingly average breakfast foods, there’s only one reason for such simplicity: your breakfast routine works wonders.
As the most important meal of the day, breakfast has the power to boost our metabolisms and set us on the right path to make better food choices throughout the day. There’s a lot of talk about cleansing routines and prohibitive diets that celebrities rely on to lose weight, but the truth is: no one (not even a celeb) can live on detox teas alone.
Here are five breakfast foods celebs swear by to speed up their metabolisms in the morning:
Gwyneth Paltrow — Vegetable Omelet
Gwyneth Paltrow is famous for her unorthodox supplement and food choices. But the goop wellness enthusiast and actress isn’t all about deprivation. One of her top breakfast choices is one you’ll see pop up often: Eggs — specifically, this veggie omelet recipe that includes two eggs, tons of chopped vegetables, olive oil, and salt and pepper. It’s simple but packed with protein and vitamins.
Khloé Kardashian — Steel-Cut Oatmeal
When we think about detox teas and diet solutions, the Kardashians pop into mind. But Khloé Kardashian would never be able to maintain her incredible fitness routine if she didn’t eat healthfully. When it comes to her morning regimen, Kardashian revealed in her book Strong Looks Better Naked that she prefers to work out early in the morning. Then, she hits the kitchen and whips up a breakfast of Bob’s Red Mill Steel Cut Oats with flaxseed powder, water or almond milk, and a protein smoothie.
Chrissy Teigen — Eggs With Bacon And Avocado
The most adorable couple on the planet even has an adorable morning routine: Chrissy Teigen and John Legend eat breakfast together, but are “robots” when it comes to their meal of choice and eat the same breakfast every day, Teigen told Bon Appetit.
“I always do two eggs over easy with turkey bacon--we enjoy the taste of it more than pork--and avocado,” Teigen says. “I carve it all up into a bowl so it's like a slop, and I load it with salt and pepper and Cholula. I can cook really complicated recipes, but it takes a real talent to do the perfect egg. John does the eggs.”
Julianne Hough — Omelet With Tomatoes
Julianne Hough prepared her “go-to breakfast” live on the Rachael Ray Show and I’m delighted to share that it’s one anyone can easily make at home! All you’ll need are 2-3 eggs, olive oil, water (which steams eggs in the pan and gives them relish flavor), tomatoes, and avocado. This low-fat, high-protein breakfast will keep you going for hours.
Gigi Hadid — Beans And Eggs
Sadly, Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik recently broke up after spending two years together. During that time, they both obviously had an influence on one another — Zayn even encouraged Gigi to try a little something extra with her usual egg breakfast. “I’m getting super into British foods," Hadid told Evening Standard. "I’m loving Heinz Baked Beans in the morning and Z cooks a lot.” While it’s unfortunate that the couple didn’t last, we give Zayn props for his bean contribution. The fiber-rich food is an excellent addition to breakfast and one that fills you up and keeps your digestive system healthy.
