Starbucks is known for providing us with just the right complicated coffee drink we’re looking for. They’re also known for their selection of relatively healthy pastries and sandwiches – from coffee cake (OK, not so healthy) to egg bites.

But if you’ve been indulging in their breakfast sandwiches, we have some bad news. There is one Starbucks breakfast sandwich that you need to stop ordering ASAP. It has WAY more calories than all the others!

Nutritionist Tommy Tommy Pederson broke our hearts a little by revealing the Starbucks breakfast sandwich that we will no longer be ordering.  "You should never eat the double-smoked bacon, cheddar, and egg sandwich from Starbucks. It has 500 calories, and is the highest calorie breakfast sandwich item on the menu!”

While 500 calories might not be as terrible as you might imagine, compared to all of the other breakfast sandwich on the menu, this one is nearly twice the calories!

Pederson explained that the extra calories don’t even translate to extra nutritional benefits, “The other sandwiches have much more meat and protein - which helps keep you full so you don't feel the need to eat more throughout the day.” He added that the problem with the double-smoked bacon, cheddar, and egg sandwich is that it’s higher in calories, with less actual food volume. “So, you're going to get those annoying hunger pangs way sooner than if you pick any other item on this list.” That sounds like a lose-lose to us. He added that it’s also pricier than other options.

But don’t despair – there are still breakfast sandwiches that you can order at Starbucks with peace of mind. A favorite? “The Turkey Bacon, Cheddar, and Egg breakfast sandwich is only 230 calories and will give you around the same protein as our unhealthy sandwich above!”
