Brie Larson has undergone a significant fitness journey over the last several years, and the Captain Marvel star recently revealed exactly what went into achieving the fit physique she has now. After the 31-year-old actress shared an impressive video of herself doing a series of one armed pushups on her Instagram last month, and another video completing one armed pull ups, Larson is now sharing how she reached her goals to be as fit as her superhero alter ego in real life.
Speaking to former Bachelorette and current host of Extra, Rachel Lindsay, Larson shared that getting in shape for her role as Captain Marvel has completely changed her outlook on fitness, even aside from the film. “It’s been a really powerful journey for me to learn what my body can do,” she said when Lindsay marvelled over her one arm pull up.
As she prepares for Captain Marvel 2 which is set to hit theaters in 2022, Larson revealed the intensive workout regimen she’s been following in order to reach her goals and stay in superhero shape. Taking to her YouTube channel, the actress posted a video detailing a grueling workout with her trainer Jason Walsh. While Larson has locked down some incredibly impressive moves such as a 400 lb hip thrust and one arm pushups, the emphasis of her recent workout video was more so on the “foundation work” that allowed her to achieve her goals.
Larson also admitted that she has previously only shared her “greatest hits” workouts, so she wanted to give a full scope of the exercises that made it all possible. “They don’t realize that we actually started with all of these really fundamental, easy moves before we got to that point, and that’s one of the reasons why we built so much resiliency and you were able to not get injured,” shared Walsh.
