Eat more salads with leafy greens, they said. It’ll be healthy, they said!
If you listened to what *every nutritionist ever* said, and stocked up on packaged leafy greens to make that salad prep easier, only to learn that your favorite brand sold at Walmart and other stores was recalled due to salmonella. Yikes!
This was the case for millions of Americans this month, when the the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced on July 17th that the super popular BrightFarms leafy green products were being pulled from shelves after eight cases of illness were reported.
The products, which make salad prep so easy, were sold at Walmart along with other grocery chain in four states: Illinois, Wisconsin, Iowa and Indiana.
According to the release, the greenhouse farming company is “voluntarily recalling” nine of their consumer products after the illness were reported among people who purchased or consumed the products in June. Popular greens suchs as Butter Crisp and Spring Mix were among those affected.

“Salmonella can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems,” the announcement warned. Well, there goes our appetite!
