Those closest to Britney Spears reportedly believe that “she’s a danger to herself and others,” according to a new hour-long documentary entitled TMZ Investigates: Britney Spears: The Price of Freedom. The documentary will air on Monday, May 15th on Fox, and will unpack the 41-year-old “Womanizer” singer’s life one and a half years after her 13-year conservatorship came to an end. Some of the things covered in the documentary include her marriage to Sam Ashgari, 29, her failed intervention, and her loved ones’ concern for her health and safety, among other things.
According to a press release, as per Billboard, the special “details about her deeply troubled marriage, family estrangement, alarming behavior, failed intervention, and how she continues to be an enduring force in the music industry.” The press release also states that the documentary will give fans some insight into how the “Toxic” singer spends each day, and will “reveal concern among those closest to her that she’s a danger to herself and others.”
First Trailer For ‘TMZ Investigates: Britney Spears: The Price of Freedom’ Is Released
The first trailer for the documentary was released on Monday, May 8th, and quite a lot was revealed in just 30 seconds. The trailer showed TMZ’s managing editor Fabian Garcia claiming that Britney “got physical with Sam,” in reference to her husband, while narrator and TMZ executive producer Harvey Levin can be heard saying that their marriage is in “deep trouble.”
“Britney Spears has had a year and a half of freedom since the conservatorship ended, but there are big problems,” Levin says at the beginning of the trailer. TMZ executive producer Charles Latibeaudiere, who is also one of the documentary’s hosts, is even heard suggesting that people “keep knives away from her,” while TV doctor Drew Pinsky, commonly known as Dr. Drew, also says, “I’m mortified.” Wow!
Britney Spears Reportedly 'Guzzles' Caffeinated Drinks And Is Awake For Three Consecutive Nights
TMZ noted in a May 10th article that insiders claim Britney "guzzles" Red Bull, Celsius, coffee, and dandelion tea almost nonstop, and sometimes drinks *so much* caffeine she can stay awake for three days at a time. Dr. Drew revealed to TMZ that this "not particularly healthy" habit is quite common for people with mental illnesses, as they crave the high that they get from these drinks.
The trailer wasn’t all doom and gloom, as it also noted that there was still "hope" for the "Piece Of Me" singer as far as her career was concerned, suggesting she's "probably still in the top five people." We're interested to see what other positive and hopeful things are said about the mom-of-two.
This latest special comes after FX and Hulu’s Controlling Britney Spears, New York Times’ Framing Britney Spears, and Netflix’s Britney vs Spears, which were all released before her conservatorship came to an end back in November 2021. TMZ Investigates: Britney Spears: The Price of Freedom is set to premiere on Monday, May 15th at 9 pm ET on Fox, and will also be available on Hulu and Fox Entertainment’s streaming platform, Tubi. We can't wait to watch!
