Britney Spears alarmed many fans recently when she recounted a harrowing fireplace mishap that occurred four years after accidentally setting her home gym ablaze. The “Toxic” hitmaker, 42, revealed to her Instagram followers that the “really dangerous” event had transpired six months earlier.

While “talking in a British accent,” Spears said in a new video: “I was in my room, I turned the fire on, and all of the sudden, it blew up in my face.” The Grammy winner added that her fireplace had a history of acting up, so she typically calls on her security team to “come in and light it” for her. She went on: “But this time, I just threw the whole thing in there, and it literally blew into my face.”

Spears noted that the “person [she] was with just would not wake up.” Ever since Spears shared the video last week, many fans have expressed on social media that they are “scared for” her or “concerned” about her well-being.

The "Oops!...I Did It Again" singer also shared: "It took all my eyelashes off, my eyebrows and — see these baby bangs? These are from … it sizzl[ing] all my hair." During that moment, the mom of two feared she might be suffering from second or even third-degree burns." Spears also thought that she would "have to go to the emergency room because [her] face was, like, on fire."

The "Circus" artist continued: "It hurt to touch my phone. It hurt to put ice on my face. It hurt [to have] anything touch it. This happened for, like, six or seven hours. … The pain never went away. It was so, so, so bad." Ultimately, Spears mentioned that she took three Tylenol, likening this to taking "f–king Vicodin," and it helped her to fall asleep. She concluded her story: "Yeah, it was really bad. All is good now."

Just last year, the famous pop star candidly shared a rather unfortunate incident involving her home gym. While setting a calming ambiance with candles, she accidentally ignited a fire. She later took to Instagram to reveal the aftermath, posting pictures of the charred remains of her once-pristine workout space.

“I walked past the door to the gym and flames, BOOM !!!!!!” the Crossroads actress noted in December of last year. “By the Grace of God the alarm went off after that and yippy hoorah nobody got hurt. Unfortunately, now I have only two pieces of equipment left lol and a one-sided mirror gym!!!!"

At the time, she added: “But it could be much worse so I’m grateful. Pssss I like working out better outside anyways!!!!”

After enduring a 13-year conservatorship that finally came to an end in 2021, Spears now resides in an opulent mansion in Los Angeles, according to a report by Page Six.
