Britney Spears is speaking out against a June 10th Daily Mail report that she is “using drugs.” The 41-year-old Grammy winner took to Instagram to denounce the tabloid’s report, and her ex-husband Kevin Federline also called it “false and repulsive.”

Over the weekend, The Daily Mail reported that it interviewed Federline. The newspaper said that the dancer, 45, opened up about his worries that Spears is using meth. Journalist Daphne Barak alleged that Federline told her: “I fear [Spears is] on meth — I’ve been praying someone would make it public and that she wakes up. … It’s terrifying. She is the mother of my boys.”

In the days since, both Federline and Spears herself have declared that this is incorrect.

Britney Spears And Kevin Federline Speak Out Against ‘False’ Drug Use Report

In a June 11th Instagram post for her 42.1 million followers, Spears addressed the report. She wrote: “The fact that people are claiming things that are not true is so sad … This may not even be them saying such things because it doesn’t make any sense to me for them to be saying that.”

The “Toxic” hitmaker added: “It makes me sad because I tried so hard to make things nice for you and it was never good enough. So you guys go behind my back and talk about me … it breaks my heart and the news is so low.”

Spears continued, referring to her two sons (who she shares with Federline), Sean Preston, 17, and Jayden James, 16: “Hopefully it is just the news being hateful and Kevin nor Preston said any of those things.”

The “Oops!…I Did It Again” singer also called out the media: “I’ve always felt like the news bullies me,” she wrote. “It’s sad because everyone sits back as if that’s ok to make up lies to that extent…Why am I told I have to sit back and rise above ??? When they all go so low???”

In a statement shared via his Instagram Story, Federline also stressed that the Daily Mail report was untrue. He wrote, in part that the reporting is “false” and “repulsive.” The rapper also noted that it “saddens” his family, which includes the two children he shares with the “Circus” artist.

Federline added: "[The] lies and attempts to exploit minors is click bait and another repulsive example of where, unfortunately, certain journalism has sunk today."

While many fans have expressed their concerns about Spears' health due to her "strange" social media posts, sultry dancing videos and cryptic Instagram captions following the end of her 13-year conservatorship, both the pop star herself and ex claim that the Daily Mail story couldn't be further from the truth.
