While it’s unclear which members were included in this statement, Jamie Lynn and her husband took the time to speak their truth on the matter this week. On Monday, Jamie Lynn released an emotional statement on Instagram, alleging that she would support Britney whether she wanted to “run away to the rainforest and have a zillion babies in the middle of nowhere, or if she wants to come back and dominate the world like she has so many times before.”
Jamie Lynn continued by saying she has nothing personal to gain from Britney’s conservatorship, and was waiting for her big sister to speak out on her own before she released any statements weighing in on the conversation. “I am only her sister who is only concerned about her happiness,” she says. She then broke down, saying that she’s made a point to only participate in Britney’s life as a sister and an aunt to her children, admitting that while she may not have supported her “in the way the public would have liked me to,” she always supported her sister in private nonetheless, which Britney is well aware of.
Meanwhile, Jamie Lynn’s husband Jamie Watson also spoke out in support of Britney, saying, “I can assure you her family loves her and wants the best for her. I wouldn't be around people who weren't. Who wouldn't want to be in support of Britney?" While his statement seems to disagree with Britney’s claims that her family has been profiting off her trauma for years, it’s unclear how close of a relationship Jamie Lynn and her husband now have with the patriarch of the family: Jamie Spears.
In her powerful testimony last Wednesday, Britney said, “It's been 13 years and it's been enough. I want to be able to be heard. I've kept this in for so long; it's not good for my heart. I've been so angry and I cry every day. For my sanity ... I need to get it off my heart. The anger, all of it. The main reason why I'm here today is I want to end the conservatorship without being evaluated." The future of Britney’s conservatorship and relationship with her family is still unknown, but it’s safe to say that for the first time in years people are finally paying attention.
