Justin Timberlake was apprehended in Long Island, New York, for driving while intoxicated or impaired. A representative from the Sag Harbor Police Department informed People Magazine that the “Selfish” singer, 43, was in custody as of the morning of June 18th.

An insider, who spoke with the publication this week, disclosed that Timberlake was taken into custody for DWI charges after dining at the American Hotel in Sag Harbor. Upon leaving the hotel to go to his friend’s house, the Grammy winner was pulled over.

According to the outlet, the “Rock Your Body” crooner will face one count of DWI, and two citations will be issued – one for running a stop sign and one for failing to stay in the lane.

On social media, fans of Timberlake’s ex Britney Spears have been trolling the “Mirrors” artist, joking that it is now “time for a conservatorship” for him, while others wrote messages like: “cry me a river.”

Justin Timberlake Apprehended For Driving While Intoxicated Or Impaired: Britney Spears Fans React

On X (formerly Twitter), news of Timberlake's arrest broke, and fans of Spears, 42, weren't shy in sharing their thoughts on the matter.

At around noon on June 18th, pop culture-themed account Pop Crave tweeted: "Justin Timberlake allegedly had traces of molly, poppers, Truvada, and coke in his bloodstream following his DWI arrest in New York."

One fan replied in the thread: "Britney has the chance to do something hilarious right now," as another added: "Cry me a river 2.0."

As many will recall, the "Toxic" hitmaker and Timberlake started dating in 1999, having met while working on the Mickey Mouse Club together. Their relationship ended in 2002, and Timberlake's hit song "Cry Me a River" led fans to believe that the breakup wasn't amicable, with rumors of Spears' infidelity swirling.

In 2021, the documentary Framing Britney Spears brought the drama between the exes back into the spotlight, with allegations that Timberlake had a hand in spreading negative stories about Spears after their split. This led to widespread criticism, prompting Timberlake to publicly apologize. In February 2021, Timberlake wrote on Instagram: "I've seen the messages, tags, comments, and concerns and I want to respond."

The father of two (who shares sons Silas, 9, and Phineas, 2, with wife Jessica Biel) added: "I am deeply sorry for the times in my life where my actions contributed to the problem, where I spoke out of turn, or did not speak up for what was right. … The industry is flawed. It sets men, especially white men, up for success. It’s designed this way."

In his extensive statement, Timberlake directly addressed Spears, acknowledging the ways in which he had let her down over time. The Inside Llewyn Davis actor also expressed regret for the infamous wardrobe malfunction that happened during his and Janet Jackson's 2004 Super Bowl halftime performance, apologizing to her as well.

After Timberlake's recent arrest, police released a statement. It read: "On June 18, 2024, at 12:37 AM, Justin R. Timberlake, age 43, of Tennessee, was observed operating a 2025 BMW southbound on Madison Street, failing to stop at a duly posted stop sign and failing to maintain his lane of travel. A traffic stop was initiated by a Police Officer from the Sag Harbor Village Police Department and upon investigation it was determined that Mr. Timberlake was operating his vehicle in an intoxicated condition."

The statement continued: "Mr. Timberlake was placed under arrest, processed, and held overnight for morning arraignment. Mr. Timberlake was arraigned at the Sag Harbor Village Justice Court on June 18, 2024, at 9:30 AM where he was released on his own recognizance."

After being arraigned, Timberlake is scheduled to appear in court again for a hearing on July 26th.
