Britney's father, Jamie Spears, has been her legal sole conservator for 13 years. A conservatorship is a legal guardianship that allows the conservator to make decisions for someone who has been deemed incapable of making decisions for themselves.

Jamie became Britney's conservator in 2008, following a series of Britney's mental breakdowns. He currently has control of all of her assets and finances.

On June 23 of this year, Britney officially asked a court to end her conservatorship.

At the time, she said, "It's my wish and my dream for all of this to end. I just want my life back. The conservatorship should end. I truly believe this conservatorship is abusive."

The mother-of-two even testified that she has been forced to keep have IUD as birth control, as a result of the conservatorship.

“I was told right now in the conservatorship, I’m not able to get married or have a baby. I have an IUD inside of myself right now so I don’t get pregnant," Britney said. "I wanted to take the IUD out so I could start trying to have another baby. But this so-called team won’t let me go to the doctor to take it out because they don’t want me to have children — any more children. So basically, this conservatorship is doing me way more harm than good.”

However, Britney's request to terminate the conservatorship has been denied. The judge said that a decision cannot yet be made as Britney has not filed a petition to end the conservatorship.

The court documents state, “The conservator’s request to suspend James P. Spears immediately upon the appointment of Bessemer Trust Company of California as sole conservator of estate is denied without prejudice."
