With the Free Britney Movement gaining traction, there has been a lot of speculation around Britney Spears – specifically about whether or not she’s the one behind her posts. When the New York Times documentary Framing Britney Spears shined a light on Spears’ mental health and public image, she took to Instagram to write about how she felt after watching the film, admitting that she “cried for two weeks” after seeing it.

However, considering how  many people doubt whether or not Britney is the one running her account behind the screen, many felt as though this post did not reflect her true feelings on the matter. Specifically, Spears' former makeup artist Billy Brasfield claimed that she had no control over her social media.

Britney's rep denied these claims to Page Six, explaining that Britney said, "I don’t speak to Billy, I don’t know who he is speaking with. It’s not me. I haven’t talked to him in years." She continued, "I write my own posts, I don’t know why he is saying that."

Britney's social media manager Cassie Petrey — who runs the singer’s accounts via the company CrowdSurf – also denied these rumors. "Britney creates her own posts and writes her own captions for Instagram," she explained.

Petrey added, "She finds the Google images, Pinterest images, quotes, memes and everything else herself. Nobody is suggesting any of that stuff to her."

With this in mind, Britney's latest post, where she mentions being "flattered" by the attention does seem like it's coming directly from Spears. Sharing a video, Britney wrote, "Happy to share especially with a world that is empathetic and concerned with my life … what can I say I’m FLATTERED !!! Here’s to another beautiful summer of popsicles and sunbathing !!!"
