Britney Spears took to Instagram to share a now-deleted video of herself dancing, and revealed last week in her caption that she “quit the business.” She reflected on her 13-year conservatorship in the candid message, and “not having a voice” for years.
The 41-year-old Grammy winner shared a video that showed her dancing along to her 2007 song, “Get Naked (I Got a Plan).” She also deemed this to be her “favorite” song from her two-decade discography in the caption. She donned an off-the-shoulder crop top and low-waisted shorts while twirling around.
Naturally, after seemingly declaring that she was done with an entertainment career, many fans expressed their “devastation” and “sadness” on Twitter. Others continued to stress that the “Princess of Pop” needs “help,” deeming her cryptic dancing videos like this to be “concerning” or “somewhat off.”

Spears also opened up about her earlier performing days, feeling like she had to share the spotlight with her backup dancers, and how their creative visions and desires often didn’t line up. “It was really weird because my dancers took the stage for this song !!! Oh well !!! I listened to this song today and actually realized it for the first time,” the mom of two wrote.
The “Toxic” hitmaker added, “I guess it was all those rules you know !!! Guess all those rules and not having a voice for 13 years in what I wanted gave a lot of people a thrill ride !!! Oh well !!! Psss no wonder I quit the business JUST SAYING !!!”
The “Oops!…I Did It Again” singer concluded her note to her 42.1 million followers with a positive little update: “I’m going to London next week to go shopping so things aren’t too shabby.” In other news, Spears’ two teenage sons (who she often posts about) will soon be moving to Hawaii with their father, her ex Kevin Federline.

Fans React To Spears’ ‘Quitting The Business’ Comment
Although Spears seemed to confirm that she won’t be working in the near future, she did return to music last year for a duet with Elton John, “Hold Me Closer,” which surprised many of her devotees at the time.
Some fans who have longed for a new album from Spears (who hasn’t released one since August of 2016) took to Twitter to share their “sadness” at the idea of her departing from the entertainment world.

“No britney no ! Come back we love u” one wrote as another tweeted: “her music has done nothing but bring joy to people.” Others noted that while they’d “miss” Spears’ music, they stressed that her “mental health” is more “important,” even if that means stepping away from entertaining.
“She deserves to do whatever the hell she wants!” one other wrote as another fan chimed in: “I can see why she’s exclusively dancing and talking to the world via her phone.” They went on: “So much was stolen from her…so much abuses from all who where supposed to protect her. The world beyond her phone has been shown to be dangerous. May she find peace, safety and security.”
