Brooke Shields had fans worried this week when the 55-year-old former supermodel and actress revealed that she was in the hospital with a broken femur. Shields took to Instagram on February 22, sharing an image of herself in a hospital gown with crutches, sparking well wishes from fans in the comments.

Shields captioned her post, “Broke my femur. Beginning to mend. No matter what your challenge is, make a positive choice, for yourself, to move forward.” In the video, the actress can be seen wearing no slip socks, walking slowly down the hospital hallway with the help of crutches. Her famous friends quickly flocked to the comments to share their prayers.
Actress Glenn Close wrote, “Brooke! So sorry! Courage...it's in your blood. Sending love, Gkenn,” and then followed up, writing “Oops! Glenn.” Sharon Stone then added, “Oh crap honey I’m so sorry let me know how you’re doing R u home out west I can bring food.” It seems like she has a good support system looking out for her throughout the healing process!
Shields has not revealed the cause of her broken femur, but her Instagram post came after nearly 2 weeks of silence in which she was likely in the midst of healing. However, she did reveal in the video that she can only put 20% of her weight on her leg at the moment and is beginning to learn to walk again. “The goal is to bend your knee each time like a little bit, just so you're not dragging it or hitching up your hip,” she said about her walking practice. Hopefully she has a speedy recovery and is back to full mobility soon!
