We all knew it was coming, but it’s still sad to hear. As of March 31, 2020, Buckingham Palace will longer comment on former royal family members Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

Harry and Meghan officially transitioned out of their senior royal roles as of midnight on March 31. The couple initially made an announcement on January 8, 2020 via social media about taking a "step back" from their senior roles within the royal family. The announcement came as a shock to their fans and their families.

On March 9, 2020, Meghan and Harry completed their last obligation as senior royals with the Queen at the Commonwealth Day service at Westminster Abbey. Since the service, the couple moved from Vancouver Island to Meghan’s hometown of Los Angeles.

A Buckingham Palace spokesperson said Harry and Meghan will have a separate communications team since they are no longer working royals. The memo stated "Effective March 31, 2020, no other Royal communications representatives act on behalf of The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, including Palace spokespeople, Household representatives nor Royal sources," reads the memo. Specifically, it states that “Going forward, Buckingham Palace will no longer comment/guide on Sussex related enquiries."

The couple also will no longer have use of their His/Her Royal Highness titles. From now on, they are just the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. Currently, their communications will be managed by Sunshine Sachs, a US-based agency, and the UK-based James Holt.
