Vegetarian Burger King fans are in luck: the fast food chain just added not one, but two new plant-based burgers to their menu. The Impossible King and the Impossible Southwest Bacon Whopper made their debut this past Monday, June 27, and customers everywhere are rejoicing.
So, what makes these menu items different from a regular old Impossible Whopper, which hit the menu in 2019? Well, when it comes to the Impossible King, the answer is, admittedly, not a whole. This burger features an Impossible patty, American cheese, sliced white onions, pickles, ketchup and mustard—just as it sounds it’s exactly like the Single Quarter Pounder King, just without the beef. Meanwhile, the Impossible Whopper has no tomatoes or mustard, with mayo instead. But, hey, this is still a step in a great direction—especially if you’re a vegetarian who prefers tomatoes and mustard on your burger. The Impossible King can even be ordered as part of Burger King’s 2 for $6 Mix n’ Match deal.

The Impossible Southwest Bacon Whopper, on the other hand, seems to have a lot of unique flavors to offer. Just like the typical Southwest Bacon Whopper, it features avocado spread, crispy bacon, seasoned tortilla chips, American cheese, lettuce, sliced white onions, tomatoes, and creamy spicy sauce—all on top of an Impossible patty rather than the usual beef quarter pounder. Of course, you’ll probably want to order this burger without the bacon if you don’t eat meat, but you can still enjoy all of those other tasty Southwest flavors. Yum!
A Burger King spokesperson told Food & Wine that their guests “have continued to express their excitement about the introduction of new plant-based items at Burger King” since the restaurant launched the Impossible Whopper back in 2019. They were one of the first names in the fast food game to give plant-based options a role, so we’re happy to see them continuing to provide even more options. We can’t wait to see what comes next!
