Burger King is introducing a totally new kind of drive-thru ordering system–and it can even predict what you are craving.

That’s right. According to Daily News, Restaurant Brands International Inc., the company that owns Burger King (as well as Popeyes and Tim Horton), is planning on rolling out these new drive-thru menus in 2022.

On Tuesday, the company announced that it will be changing out 40,000 drive-thru screens for this updated version at 10,000 restaurants. And these new screens are designed to anticipate your order.

Although that might sound impossible, the new technology makes a guess on what you'll order based on past orders, the current weather, and time of day.

That's not the only advancement that's coming to customers though.

The article adds, "New technology will also allow for immediate, remote contactless payment that will let guests order and pay simultaneously."

This addition makes sense with contactless payment becoming a priority during the pandemic.

Jose Cil, CEO of RBI, explained the new changes in the context of 2020.

"Our guests have sought out our drive-thru lanes for our iconic food and beverages throughout the COVID-19 pandemic — even in the face of mandated dining room closures around the world," he said.

Cil continued, "We believe strongly that it is time to modernize our drive-thru lanes throughout the US and Canada to provide even better, quicker and contactless service for our guests. This includes presenting menu options on digital screens that are tailored for each guest, as well as integrating our loyalty program at the moment of ordering and providing remote, contactless payment to speed up our drive-thru lanes in the near future."

Although we have a while to wait before seeing these new drive-thru screens (and find out how accurate their predictions are), this definitely makes sense for the fast food industry as they shift their focus to efficiency and safety in serving customers.
