Chances are that your fast food restaurant of choice has taken a major hit since the novel coronavirus pandemic.
With dining rooms closing overnight in March, and restaurant orders going down to zero, the focus for these chain restaurants has become delivery and drive-thru. They will weather the storm, however, with many chains re-formatting their drive-thrus to keep up with the demand.

This means that your favorite fast food drive-thru is about to look a whole lot different soon. Restaurants are majorly overhauling their drive-thru lanes faster than you cay, “Can I have fries with that?”
And the most dramatic changes of them all just might be at Burger King. Here's everything we know about what the company is doing to make-over this important aspect of the fast food ordering process:

According to Nation's Restaurant News, drive-thru sales can generate 60-70% of sales for these chains. Now that more people are preferring to stay in the safety of their own cars when ordering fast food, there is a demand to revamp the process.
Burger King, McDonald's, Chipotle, Shake Shack, and Taco Bell have all overhauled their drive-thru to create more efficiency. For example, McDonald's recently launched new menu boards called, "Dynamic Yield menu boards." This new innovation allows customers to see "food based on the time of day, weather, current restaurant traffic, and trending menu item." Wow!

Additionally, Chipotle, which didn't even have a drive-thru lane before the crisis, tested Chipotlanes, aka pickup lanes for to-go meals pre-ordered through the brand's app and online. Chipotlanes are going to be in more than 60% of new Chipotle restaurants!
Now back to Burger King. The company recently announced plans to create an all-new restaurant model called "Restaurant of Tomorrow."
These new concept restaurants will have not only a drive-in section, but curbside delivery, food lockers for to-go orders, and a multiple-lane drive-thru. Welcome to the future!
This mega drive-thru will have a digital menu board and a conveyor belt system. Burger King locations in Miami, Fl., Latin America and the Caribbean will get this new model in 2021!
