Jennifer Aniston had nothing but good things to say about ex-husband Brad Pitt in a recent interview. The former it-couple have been broken up for 15 years, which seems the perfect amount of time to heal from the seemingly messy breakup.
Discussing working with Pitt when he appeared on Friends as a guest star in 2001, Aniston just described her ex as “wonderful” and “fantastic.”
Pitt was only in the sitcom for one episode, playing the role of an old high school friend who had joined the group for a Thanksgiving dinner. His character, Will, hates Aniston’s character, Rachel, and even formed an “I Hate Rachel” club when the characters were in high school.
It is especially comedic to watch Pitt pretend to hate Rachel in the episode, knowing that the couple were newlyweds at the time.
Aniston and Pitt were married from 2000 to 2005. They had begun dating in 1998 before tying the knot in a lavish, A-list style event in the summer of 2000.
During the marriage, Aniston had spoken publicly about wanting to start a family with Pitt. However, the couple never had any kids before divorcing. At the time of their divorce, there was much public speculation as to whether Pitt cheated on Aniston with Angelina Jolie.
Pitt met and fell in love with Angelina Jolie and on the set of Mr. and Mrs. Smith - while he was still married to Jennifer Aniston. Fans were shocked when the two were seen vacationing together just months after Pitt’s split with Aniston.
In a joint statement, Pitt and Aniston announced their divorce in 2005: "We would like to announce that after seven years together we have decided to formally separate. For those who follow these sorts of things, we would like to explain that our separation is not the result of any of the speculation reported by the tabloid media. This decision is the result of much thoughtful consideration. We happily remain committed and caring friends with great love and admiration for one another. We ask in advance for your kindness and sensitivity in the coming months."
Despite any allegations of cheating, Aniston and Pitt still seem to be on good terms. In addition to Aniston’s recent praise of her time working with her ex husband, the two have attended each other’s birthday parties over the years and even took part in a live table read of the movie Fast Times at Ridgemont High last year.
