20 fresh-cut fruit products at Trader Joe's, Kroger, and Sprouts recalled
GHGA, LLC first announced a recall on fresh-fruit products containing cantaloupe last week, on November 29, due to the fact that the melon could be contaminated with salmonella. In addition to cantaloupe chunks, a range of other products that include the potentially unsafe fruit were recalled. This includes fruit trays and fruit medleys.
The impacted products were sold at Trader Joe's, Sprouts Farmers Market, and Kroger. The best-by dates, ranging from 10/28/23 to 11/4/23 have all passed by now, but you may still be in possession of the fruit if you chose to freeze it for later. Several other companies have also issued recalls on fruit products due to this salmonella outbreak affecting cantaloupe, including Aldi, Crown Jewel Products, Pacific Trellis Fruit, and Sofia Produce, LLC, whose products were sold at Kwik Trip under the name of Trufresh. All in all, it may be best to check in on any fruit trays and mixes you have that contain cantaloupe to ensure they haven't been recalled.
No illnesses have been linked back to this specific recall issued by GHGA, LLC. However, the greater salmonella outbreak has killed two people.
