This article has been updated since its initial publish date with more information regarding Carrie Underwood and the upcoming CMT Awards.
Carrie Underwood just scored two major Country Music Television (CMT) award nominations last week, and her fans couldn’t be happier for her!
The “Cry Pretty” hitmaker, 40, earned the following nominations for the upcoming ceremony (a.k.a. country music’s only fan-voted awards show): ‘Video of the Year’ for her song and visual, “Hate My Heart,” and ‘Female Video of the Year’ for “Ghost Story.”
In addition, it was previously reported that Underwood will perform at the CMTs, and from glimpses of her Denim & Rhinestones tour alone, we’re sure it’ll be epic!
The American Idol winner announced the exciting news in an Instagram post for her 12.3 million followers last week, letting her fans know that they can “vote every day at vote.cmt.com until 12PM EST on March 27.”
The CMT Awards will air on April 2nd from 8:00-11:00 PM, live ET/delayed PT on the CBS Television Network, and Kelsea Ballerini will co-host from Austin, Texas’ Moody Center. The show will also be able to stream via Paramount+
Naturally, fans headed to Underwood’s comment section to express their excitement for her achievements, and to let her know that they will be voting for her.
“Congratulations Carrie!! I’ll be voting every day,” one wrote and another added, “You deserve it. Hope you win it all!” Others conveyed their (and our) thoughts with fire, heart-eyes and red heart emojis.
Someone else replied, “So excited for your performance!” as others begged her to play fan-favorite hits from her 2022 record, Denim & Rhinestones.
Last year, Underwood racked up several Country Music Award (CMA) nominations and pleased her devotees by performing at the major country music show back in November. Underwood treated viewers to a live rendition of her single “Hate My Heart” at the event, and she was one of eight performers at the ceremony (including co-hosts Luke Bryan, Morgan Wallen and Ballerini).
In October, Underwood’s team told fans about her performance in an Instagram post, writing, “Carrie will perform her newest single, #HateMyHeart, live on this year’s #CMAawards!” Soon after, she also uploaded a video of her behind-the-scenes writing and recording process of the new song. She captioned her clip, “We have had so much fun performing my new single #HateMyHeart live on the #DenimAndRhinestonesTour these last couple weeks!”
The “Cowboy Casonova” hitmaker also took to Instagram in September to share the news of her nominations with her followers, and revealed that she was nominated for the following awards (with the ceremony taking place on November 9th): “Entertainer of the Year,” “Female Vocalist of the Year,” and “Musical Event of the Year” for her musical duet with Jason Aldean, “If I Didn’t Love You.”
In her caption, the “Before He Cheats” singer’s team wrote, “Congratulations to Carrie on 3 #CMAawards nominations!” with an applauding emoji as thousands of fans headed to her comment section to congratulate her.
“Congratulations, queen! Here’s to hoping you finally get your long overdue EOTY win,” one fan wrote as another added, “I’m gonna lose my damn mind for the millionth time if you’re not EOTY” (us too!) Someone else added that her ninth studio album, Denim & Rhinestones, deserved more attention from the CMA crew, writing, “D&R was robbed from album!!!” and another agreed, writing of the record that was released on June 10th, “D&R should of been nominated for album of the year.”
Although Underwood didn’t take home any trophies that night, she’s always a winner in fans’ eyes!
Since 2006, the American Idol winner has garnered 40 career nods, and 2022 marked her 16th nomination for “Female Vocalist,” and she’s taken home the trophy for it 5 times. Underwood is also a four-time nominee for the “Musical Event” award, and was also just nominated for the iconic “Entertainer of the Year” award for the fifth time.
Here’s hoping she scores 2 more CMT wins next month when they air!
