There’s no denying that Carrie Underwood has changed a lot since she first appeared on our screens in 2004 when she was just a fresh-faced 22-year-old on American Idol. The 39-year-old "Before He Cheats" singer's fans are even more convinced that she has had fresh cosmetic work done ahead of her 40th birthday next month, with some even going as far as saying that she now looks unrecognizable! Yikes!
When the "Ghost Story" hitmaker shared a throwback video with her 12.2M Instagram followers on January 26th, which she recorded for her son Jake to congratulate him on his potty training, much of the comments section was dominated by fans commenting on her appearance, with one fan asking, "What did she do to her face?" and another begging her to "Stop the plastic surgery," followed by a crying emoji.
"Can't hardly recognize her anymore she went from absolutely gorgeous to who is she," one disappointed fan commented. "I just don't understand why she would have all that plastic surgery when she was already beautiful," they continued. "You're absolutely right. She looks odd and it's hard to watch. Others on here pretend this is normal," agreed another fan, followed by a crying laughing emoji.

"It honestly took me a few moments to realize who this was," another fan commented, followed by a smirking emoji, while someone else said, "Your lips were much prettier then. Too blown up now." Another simply commented with the hashtag, "#frozenface." Another fan said, "You're so gorgeous. But stop putting stuff in your top lip." The fan then asked: "Why do you need to do that? It totally alters your whole God given look. But I love you no matter what."

The eight-time Grammy winner herself opened up about having to have 40-50 stitches above her lip after a terrifying fall at home, which happened when she was walking her dogs back in November 2017. She even warned fans that she "might look a bit different," but was thankful to have made a full recovery, saying, "I'm so thankful for the doctors, nurses, family & friends who've been taking such great care of me."
The "If I Didn't Love You" singer's fans even recalled the accident in the comments section to her above video, with one saying, "she had to have half of her upper lip reconstructed after an accident. To make her mouth even she had to have fillers. Other than that she's just gotten older," and another adding, "she had a bad fall a few years back and hurt her face badly. I can tell you as a medical assistant she probably just did her best as far as reconstruction and this is the result. She is very self conscious of this btw, she’s stated she knows she looks different and people will say things. She looks beautiful as always."
The seven-time CMA-Award-winner previously opened up to Redbook about the constant plastic surgery rumors, saying she tries "not to worry too much" about what is written about her, even if friends or members of her family ask her about it. "My mom will be like, 'Did you see they are saying this about you?' And I’ll be like, 'Mama, I don’t care. I’m just trying to raise my son and live my life.'"

There are countless social media accounts and YouTube videos that compare before and after pictures of the "Hate My Heart" singer, and as a result, countless comments from fans speculating what she could and could not have had done over the years.
"She has had lip filler and probably Botox," one fan speculated on a YouTube video from the 'Celebrity Plastic Surgery' account. "Some of you fail to realize she's almost 40. That's a 15-20 year age difference between some of these photos from when she was on idol. She's had two kids, pregnancy can change your face shape. And she's lost weight and added muscle. She's still beautiful," they added. "Her nose, lips, and eyes are def different... but the frame of her face still looks the same," commented another fan. "Her entire face has undergone a complete overhaul. New everything! How can she lie about it?!" asked another, while someone else said: "She’s had lots of procedures, I work in the Bizz... very obvious upon comparison… assuming the photos aren’t fixed."
