It looks like the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree in Carrie Underwood’s family: her 5-year-old son Isaiah recently lent his voice to the song “Little Drummer Boy” on her latest Christmas album! The 37-year-old singer admitted that she was incredibly proud of her son’s talent, saying, “He did such a great job. I can’t help but tear up everytime I hear it.” So sweet!

Underwood fully immersed herself in the Christmas spirit this year, releasing her first holiday album, and an accompanying Christmas program titled “My Gift: A Christmas Special from Carrie Underwood” to bring the songs to life. The special was made in collaboration with HBO Max, where Underwood teamed up with Tom Hanks’ production company to executive produce the show.

The mother-of-two revealed to Extra that it felt only natural to executive produce, saying, “It’s been great. I know how I want to look and sound and how I want things to feel. It kind of only made sense to be an executive producer.” The special is out now, and with a number of gorgeous songs and glittering costumes to match, it’s sure to put you in the holiday spirit.

Finally back on stage for the special, Underwood performed a stunning duet with the equally talented artist John Legend, belting “Hallelujah” while Legend played the piano. Carrie admitted that “being back on stage again has just been magical. Hopefully people can feel at peace and feel some Christmas cheer.” We certainly do!

It looks like Carrie’s son Isaiah has a bright future ahead of him with his mom’s gift of a beautiful voice, already starting his musical ventures at the age of 5. This may have been a rocky year on the whole, but the joys of music have not been lost and Underwood’s Christmas special was the star on top of the tree that we needed to usher out 2020.
