Carrie Underwood's Weight Has Changed Throughout Her Career
The "Hate My Heart" singer's weight changed shortly after she had won Season 4 of American Idol back in 2005 (wow, was it really that long ago?!) as she reportedly noticed herself lacking in energy when she was touring with some of her other American Idol contestants, and therefore started eating better and exercising more.
Carrie's shape noticeably changed after she had won the singing competition, although she did gain weight, as expected, when she was pregnant with both of her children, Isaiah Michael, born in February 2015, and Jacob Bryan, born in January 2019.
Carrie seemed to gain more weight when she was pregnant with her second child in 2019, and she worked hard to shed the pounds shortly after son Jacob Bryan was born. The singer incredibly lost about 30 pounds in 2 months after giving birth – just look at the red carpet picture of her at the American Music Awards in October 2018 compared with the one from the American Country Music Awards in April 2019! – which was reportedly achieved through diet and exercise.
How Did Carrie Underwood Lose Weight?
The "Jesus, Take The Wheel" singer's weight loss doesn’t seem to have been down to controversial weight loss drug Ozempic, and instead, seems to have been down to good diet and exercise. It's previously been reported that her exercise routine revolved around her losing weight while building strength at the same time. It reportedly once consisted of 30 minutes of aerobics four times a week, and strength training three times a week, with her workout routine being a little different while on tour.
Some reports have suggested that Carrie's diet, which she actually confessed is now 95% vegan, included fruits, vegetables, healthy proteins, and low carbs, as well as a reduction of processed foods and sugar. All sounds good to us!
According to Hello!, Carrie isn’t a huge fan of breakfast, but does make sure she eats it on workout days because she gets very hungry when exercising. "I don't eat a lot of breakfast. I wouldn't eat anything if I wasn't going to work out. But I get really hungry when I work out," she confessed. The "Ghost Story" singer also revealed that she likes to "start the day off right" with a cup of coffee (don’t we all?) and also tends to have another one a little later on in the day for a mid-afternoon pick-me-up. On show days, Carrie may sometimes have an Urban Remedy bar for breakfast, which she once said on her Instagram Story was "enough to get [her] going."
Carrie is a big egg lover, and said she sometimes has two hard-boiled eggs, a pile of edamame and some lupin beans, which she previously said she eats "literally every day as a snack because they have a lot of protein and I like beans." She once wrote on Instagram that her dinner on show day was "2 eggs, 1/2 avocado, veggies and hummus." The "If I Didn’t Love You" hitmaker does treat herself too, and once wrote on Instagram that she was enjoying "a little wine and cheese, because I'm starving."
