Carrie Underwood Shares Unseen Personal Pictures From 'American Idol' In 2005
The first picture shows a fresh-faced and curly-haired 22-year-old Carrie smiling for the camera, while wearing a sticker with her contestant number displayed on it. Little did she know that she wouldn't be needing a sticker to be identified in the years to come…
The second picture sees the "Jesus, Take the Wheel" singer smiling as she is kneeling down and placing her hands on a concrete handprint, while the third picture is taken outside the iconic Orpheum Theatre in Los Angeles, where Hollywood Week is filmed. The final slide is a very nostalgic picture of the eight-time Grammy winner posing with her fellow contestants. What a great trip down memory lane!
The throwback pictures proved just how far the "Before He Cheats" hitmaker has come over the years, especially in terms of her appearance and her fit physique. Carrie has opened up about the diet and lifestyle changes she has made on several occasions over the years, one of the biggest being her commitment to food journaling.
Carrie Underwood Says Food Journaling Is A Huge Part Of Her Weight Loss Transformation
The "If I Didn't Love You" singer previously told Cosmopolitan that she writes down everything she eats in a personal journal to keep track. "I'm a bottomless pit, and I can out-eat everyone I know," she joked.
"It's like there's no sensor between my stomach and my brain that says, 'Hey, you're full, stop eating!'" Underwood explained. "Once I recognized that about myself, I started tracking my diet, which helps me make better choices and pay attention to what I'm eating."
But she doesn't just log her meals, as the "Cowboy Casanova" singer also uses her journal to keep track of her fitness too, explaining: "I also write down which exercises I'm going to do later." Smart and structured – we love it!
Carrie Underwood's Workouts Involve A Lot Of 'Strength Training'
Of course diet is responsible for just part of Carrie's transformation, as Carrie works out very hard for her enviable, fit physique. Personal trainer Eve Overland previously revealed that the "How Great Thou Art" singer follows a workout plan that incorporates a lot of strength training, which is very important in keeping her in top shape for her performances.
"[We] have a laugh when we say we like to focus on 'vanity muscles'—muscle groups that pop and are show-stopping when she is on stage performing or on the red carpet," Overland said.
Another one of her trainers, Erin Oprea, told People that Carrie's famous toned legs wouldn't be as iconic as they are without lunges, calling them the "one thing I find so absolutely useful."
