Carrie Underwood has extended her “Reflection” Las Vegas residency, and while fans are ecstatic, her husband, former NHL player Mike Fisher, is reportedly far from thrilled. An insider revealed that Mike “just wants Carrie to come home,” but the “Something in the Water” singer just added 18 2024 shows to her residency, which is far from home in Tennessee, where Fisher has taken on the role of stay-at-home dad with their two sons, Isaiah, 8, and Jacob, 4.

The insider continued, saying that while the couple has bickered in the past, this situation is “definitely a bump in the road.” Carrie has been performing at the Resorts World Theatre since December of 2021 and is tacking on another year, despite allegations that “Mike is not happy Carrie extended her residency.” Keep reading to find out more.

Mike Fisher is upset with wife Carrie Underwood for extending her residency

Though Carrie Underwood posted on her Instagram that she is “so excited” to continue performing in Vegas, an insider close to the couple revealed that her husband does not share that excitement. “He’s very traditional, and while he loves that Carrie has a career, he believes her role as a wife and a mother should be a priority,” the source explained.

But, the “Before He Cheats” singer reportedly “enjoys getting some alone time. She’s made friends in Las Vegas and has a whole other life there,” the insider continued.

According to the source, the couple did discuss before Carrie announced her continued residency, and really 'butted heads about it." Fisher, who retired from professional hockey in 2017 after 17 seasons with the Nashville Predators, "didn't sign up to be the full-time parent, and he's annoyed she's missed family events."

This situation is "definitely a bump in the road," but the insider insists "they'll get through this." The couple has been married for 13 years and have two sons together, so we really hope they will!

Fan reactions

Most fans were simply so excited for more opportunities to see the talented singer. On Carrie's Instagram post announcing the extension, fans shared their glee: "Was waiting for this!!" one user wrote. "So excited to finally start planning my LA/Vegas trip!!"

"The queen of country & the queen of Vegas!" another fan commented.

"The 'Reflection' show is one of the best, congratulations to you and your entire team!" one person posted.

Other users shared their thoughts on Mike's wishes for Carrie to come home, calling him out for not being supportive of his wife’s career. "Those kids have two parents, one of whom is RETIRED. Surely, a strapping, healthy man with nothing but time on his hands can pull himself together to be the father to his own children three days a week. After all, when he was playing hockey, SHE was the one raising the kids."

Another fan agreed, writing, "Mike was a former NHL player who was away from home for 6 months out of the year. I don't see what's the big deal."

But other fans took Mike's side, posting comments like, "Not a good idea to put your career ahead of your family" and "I don't see their marriage lasting much longer, as it seems her career is more important to her than her marriage or their kids."

Hopefully, the pair will get over this "bump in the road." Maybe Mike can bring the kids out for a show or two?
