The 2023 SAG Awards, which feature accolades given by the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists. Founded in 1995, the show is intended to recognize outstanding performances in movies and prime-time television. Jessica Chastain, in a vibrant pink taffeta dress, presented a SAG award. Continuing her flawlessly-styled award season, Cate Blanchett, 53, chose a curve-hugging, lace-and-sequin black gown by Armani Privé for the award show. Cate is making quite the statement by wearing the dress for the third time since 2014. The actress looks just as chic in this dress for the third time!

Cate Blanchett Repurposed An Armani Privé Gown At The 2023 Sag Awards

At the SAG Awards 2023, Cate (who was nominated for her critically-acclaimed role in Tár) opted to once again repurpose a gown from her own style catalog. This time, she donned the “third iteration” of a lacey Giorgio Armani Privé frock that she wore to both the 2014 Golden Globes and to the 2018 Cannes Film Festival.

The intricate and elaborate gown was initially made with sheer fabric and delicate lace. The design featured a high neck and cap sleeves. But now, while the dress still has the lace, it’s now on a black sequin bodice with a fitted skirt and sleeves cut along the lace pattern. Cate chose to style her blonde tresses in a romantic, wavy long bob. She also opted for youthful, rosy makeup to contrast the edgy, punk vibes of the gown.

Her stylist, Elizabeth Stewart, posted a shot of the Tár star before the show, which included a comparison of the other iterations of the gown. The dress is definitely more form-fitting and shows off the actress’ incredible figure this time around. Fans were obsessed with the ensemble and repurposing old dresses. One fan commented, “Amazing, I’m loving all the repurpose Cate looks! I love her colorful Valentino gown she wore to the Golden Globes over ten years ago if you ever wanted to [re-wear] it again. It’s gorgeous,” on her Elizabeth’s post. While another wrote, “sustainable queen!”

The last time Cate wore this look was at the Cannes Film Festival in 2018, she did not alter the dress itself. Instead, she changed the vibes by pulling her hair into a center-parted bun and massive, elegant dangling earrings. Cate also wore another Armani Privé frock (with a plunging neckline!) to the 2022 SAG awards.

This isn’t even the first time this year she’s upcycled an ensemble from her closet for the red carpet. While at the British Academy of Film and Television Award show (BAFTAs) in London on February 19, Cate wowed in a dress she first wore to the 2015 Oscars.

At the BAFTAs this year, Cate won best leading actress for her role as Lydia Tár in Tár. She donned a familiar dress when she walked the red carpet. The actress selected a black, velvet Maison Margiela frock that she first wore to the Oscars in 2015. This time, however, she styled it in a new way.

Cate adjusted the dress’ shoulders, sleeves, and hems to add more raw edges. She paired the refashioned dress with a lavish pearl Louis Vuitton necklace that extended onto her left shoulder. She also pinned a blue ribbon to the dress. The blue ribbon was a symbol for the United Nations Refugee Agency, which Cate is a Goodwill Ambassador for. Both times around with this gown, the actress complemented the edgy-chic outfit with an elegant updo and romantic makeup.

The Oscar winner repurposed yet another dress earlier this month. She wore an electric blue Alexander McQueen ensemble to the London Critics’ Circle Film Awards. She first debuted the look at the New York City premiere of Where’d You Go, Bernadette in 2019. This time around, the star added a black blazer with matching elegant electric blue silk sleeves.

Cate and her stylist Elizabeth first announced that they would be restyling some of the actress’ past red carpet looks in 2020. The first time the star stepped out in an upcycled look was in an Esteban Cortezar dress she’d previously donned five years before. “IT’S CHIC TO REPEAT!” Stewart wrote in the post about their fashionable, repurposing plan.
