Everyone knows that Catherine Zeta-Jones, 52, is just as much of a stunner as she was in the 90s, but we still love to see The Mask of Zorro actress share gorgeous throwback photos of her best style moments to Instagram!
Zeta-Jones sweetly honored the late designer Thierry Mugler in a February 22nd post. She shared a clip from her Vogue interview in which she explained how she fell in love with his dusty-rose, sultry halter dress and chose to don it at the Cannes Film Festival in 1999. “I saw this Thierry Mugler dress and it was in my favorite pink [shade],” she said in the video. “It had such defined, sharp lines. As feminine as this dress is, there is something so strong about it, and acutely it is cut.”
The dress hugged Zeta-Jones’ curves perfectly, highlighting her décolletage with a dramatic, plunging neckline, halter straps, a sexy front tie and other artful embellishments and cuts at its top. “It was everything in a dress that I loved for this event at that time in France, it was pretty amazing,” the Welsh actress continued in the clip.

With its corseted waist emphasis, stunning long train and pleated skirt, this dress is widely considered to be one of the Chicago star’s best red carpet looks. She re-shared images of it to pay homage to Mugler, who unexpectedly passed away in January. In her post caption, Zeta-Jones wrote, “Remembering the late great Thierry Mugler. It was a thrill to be able to wear his designs. This moment on the red carpet, at the Cannes Film Festival, was one of my all time favorites. It makes me smile just thinking about wearing this work of art.”
To complete her look, Zeta-Jones put her long, raven tresses into an elegant updo, wore dangly silver earrings and a bracelet, with minimal jewelry to focus on her glowing, radiant skin. She rocked a signature smokey eye and mauve lip, also her makeup choice for the Vogue video!
It’s no wonder overall why this exquisite ensemble is one of Zeta-Jones’ most memorable, and as thousands of fans wrote on her post, the meaning and her story behind it is just as special.
