This post has been updated since its initial publish date with more information re: Celine Dion’s ongoing health battle.

Celine Dion has officially canceled all of her remaining 2023 and 2024 Courage World Tour dates amid her ongoing health issues, which she first told fans about in a candid Instagram post at the end of last year.

The 55-year-old pop icon told fans that she had been diagnosed with the rare neurological disorder stiff-person syndrome in a heartbreaking Instagram video in December 2022. The mom-of-three noted in the clip that stiff-person syndrome affects “something like one in a million people,” and added: “While we’re still learning about this rare condition, we now know this is what’s been causing all of the spasms that I’ve been having. Unfortunately, these spasms affect every aspect of my daily life, sometimes causing difficulties when I walk and not allowing me to use my vocal chords to sing the way I’m used to.”

Celine Dion Cancels 2023 And 2024 Courage World Tour Dates

On May 26th, 2023 the “Love Again” singer took to Instagram to announce that she was officially canceling all of her tour dates for 2023 and 2024 due to her ongoing health issues, and expressed her “tremendous disappointment” about having to let her fans down.

“It is with tremendous disappointment that we have to announce today the cancellation of the Courage World Tour,” the “Power of Love” singer’s message began. “I’m so sorry to disappoint all of you once again. I’m working really hard to build back my strength, but touring can be very difficult even when you’re 100%. It’s not fair to you to keep postponing the shows, and even though it breaks my heart, it’s best that we cancel everything now until I’m really ready to be back on stage again. I want you all to know, I’m not giving up… and I can’t wait to see you again!”

The “That’s The Way It Is” hitmaker concluded her message by telling fans who had already bought tickets what to do following her announcement, writing: “Tickets purchased for the forty-two cancelled dates will be refunded via the original point of sale. For further ticket inquiries or options, ticketholders should reach out to their original point of purchase.”

Support From Fans

Dion's fans instantly took to the comments section to reassure her that her "health is priority #1," to quote one fan. "I'm sending you all my love, take as much time as you need, your health is most important," said another, followed by a red heart emoji. "Feel better Celine," commented another fan, followed by two red heart emojis. "Take all the time you need to recover and even more. We will wait. Your health and family is more important," said another supportive fan, followed by three red heart emojis.

Celine Dion Reportedly Has Difficulty Walking And Experiences Periods Of 'Intense Pain'

Although the "I Surrender" singer put on a brave face for a screening of Love Again – the movie she is starring in alongside Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas, which she also wrote five new songs for – things have reportedly gotten worse over the past few months.

An insider told RadarOnline in May 2023 that she is "having difficulty walking and experiences periods of intense pain that come out of nowhere." The insider said her "life has changed drastically" and she is seeing a number of different health experts and specialists "like a neurologist, a holistic practitioner, and occupational and physical therapists." The source also said that she is "holding out hope that she can beat the odds," adding, "She's refusing to accept defeat. She needs to accept the treatment. And lots of R&R."

Celine Dion First Canceled Her Las Vegas Headliner Dates In October 2021

Dion first announced in October 2021 that she was canceling her headliner dates at The Theatre at Resorts World Las Vegas, which were due to kick off on November 5th, 2021, after suffering from "severe and persistent muscle spasms," which had (understandably) forced her to rest and take time off from performing.

The "My Heart Will Go On" singer later revealed that she needed to cancel all shows that were part of the North American leg of her tour in January 2022 due to her continuing health issues. "I was really hoping that I’d be good to go by now, but I suppose I just have to be more patient and follow the regimen that my doctors are prescribing," she said in a statement at the time.

"There’s a lot of organizing and preparation that goes into our shows, and so we have to make decisions today which will affect the plans two months down the road," she continued. "I’ll be so glad to get back to full health, as well as all of us getting past this pandemic, and I can’t wait to be back on stage again. Meanwhile, I’ve been very touched by all the words of encouragement that everyone’s been sending to me on social media. I feel your love and support and it means the world to me."
